Old John, Bradgate Park by 30pics4jackiesdiamond

Old John, Bradgate Park

No idea the story behind this monument/folly, but it is in Bradgate Park, on the outskirts of Leicester. Bradgate Park was the home to Queen Jane when she was Lady Jane Grey.
It is a great folly and a distinctive site of Bradgate park. I believe there was a windmill there originally.

@rjb71 you are correct, there was a windmill there.
Old John was built as a mock ruin in 1784.
Nice shot of the beer mug.

Lovely tones and textures of these old walls. It really does look like a beer mug ;-)

A beaut image - of a funny little building - just out there all by itself.
