Camera Club trip to Wehill Hawk Conservancy, which we've been visiting on and off for 30 years. During that time massive investment and changes have taken place- all to educate us and conserve raptors.
In 1995 the founder died and arable farmland was purchased and converted back into a beautiful chalk downland wildflower meadow, named after Reg Smith. This large meadow was alive with insects. I counted at least 4 different butterfly species, watched dragon flies and damsel flies flit around and many (brave) native birds such as chaffinches, wagtails and pigeons were visiting before the vultures, black kites and eagles did their wonderful display.
Few of the birds flown and shown are native and are captive- so not wild.
