I tried using ND filters to capture the swaying reeds, but they just looked out of focus! This is a second go at Tim's challenge to do a landscape; a genre I struggle with.
I used tripod, focused on the middle distance, tried a variety of views and settled on this one across the marshes looking east. To the right on the horizen is our highest point, 131m, which really isn't mountainous!!
@rjb71 ahhh thank you Richard. That makes sense @marlboromaam and so essential to the bird life @judithdeacon we'll get there @monikozi there's a definite skill involved
A lovely landscape. I sure wouldn't know where to start with swaying reeds either. I think I am like you in that landscapes aren't something I do either
@wakelys and can nearly see my house!! @taffy thank you that was effect I was striving for @dutchothotmailcom I wanted to give it another go @grammyn I'm so lucky to live near here it's always a beautiful stroll
I think it's a lovely landscape/waterscape of the area where you live. Instead of the reeds waving in the wind, there is movement in the water, both the breeze ruffling the top and the trail of the waterfowl.
@30pics4jackiesdiamond Yes, it is. I understand the difficulty of capturing the movement of the reeds. When tropical storm Isaias came through here, I thought the swaying trees would make an interesting long exposure. Like you, I found that they just looked out of focus.
@tdaug80 thanks Tim s good challenge as had to factors in time ( sun position) tide ( it was out!) social distancing ( I did, many didn't!)and interesting location. Then the camera setting stuff!!!
@sdutoit ;) @randystreat I had to change settings do ducks not a blur! @aikiuser it's also important to visiting summer and winter birds @wakelys hidden
@30pics4jackiesdiamond Yes right, is quite a difference from your to my place. But isn't it fantastic that if you look at the landscape with open eyes there are so many beautiful places?
I think it’s a very pleasing view and a good response to the challenge. I know what you mean about the difficulty trying to capture movement in the reeds. I’ve tried a number of times to capture the sight of wind blowing through the tall grass out on the land here, and it’s just not quite the same in a still picture.
