Stationery (A Stationary-Life)

When did you last use stationery to write a letter, using a fountain pen to boot? I really do not recall my last letter! I've hand written cards, made cards to write in, but to compose a letter, using a writing pad or personalised paper, probably last century.

Prompt for this week's 52 week challenge is a still-life as you may see in a magazine.

You have just reminded me of a similar writing set that I had. I never used a fountain pen because for some reason I would leak ink everywhere But I did have a very nice Parker pen.

no idea where my writing case even is! (as a crit - tho' i've no idea what magazine still-lifes need to look like - I feel I'd like the whole of the teacup rim in)

This is a lovely composition and a great reminder of what is missing in our very technical digital world. I miss hand written letters and most of all - my film camera with all its lens and attachments. =)

I just wrote a very short letter today but as for a full on one it has been at least decades. Being left-handed with poor penmanship inhibits my desire to write and as I age my mind forgets what I want to say before my hand has finished putting it to paper!

I really like how you have composed this ophoto though!

I always use a fountain pen - for pretty much everything!

@grammyn thank you Katy, fountain pens and left handedness don't go Well
@marlboromaam it's progress though!
@anniesue I still have my Osmonds Fan Club keyring on the zip!! I did purposely crop everything except the pen and paper and I too have no clue as to a magazine still life!
@wakelys writing case was a leaving home gift, pen an 18th gift, paper weight when I left nursing! A real trip down memory lane setting this up!

It's a shame that letter writing is a dying art. I always loved writing a letter and receiving them and as I grew up I had numerous pen pals around the world. Everythings turned digital now but it does make communication so much easier. I do like your personalised note paper!

Beautiful still life setup. You are so right. I can’t remember the last time either.

Nicely done. Do you want me to send you my address so you can send me a letter? I'd hate for you to get out of practice.

I do write a very short letter to an elderly friend once a month (short because that's what suits her) so yes, I still write letters albeit not as fancy as this with a fountain pen. Of course I'd be happy to receive one from you if you'd like a new date to forget as the last time you wrote a letter. hehe

And thanks for the follow!

I have had pen pals all around the world for the last 45 years and I still write to some of them. Since I broke my wrist I've been unable to write long letters with a pen so I do type them on the computer these days but still put them on nice stationery and post them

A real blast from the past. Brought back memories of my Mum. She had a gorgeous writing case and when I was about 7 years old she had to go in hospital to have a lump removed from her breast (it turned out to be benign ). I saw her putting her writing case in her hospital bag and I said 'When you die can I have your writing case' Not the most tactful at age seven I know but I had no idea what she was going in hospital for.

Hope that it doesn't become a lost art. Letters have soul, emails not so much.

I wrote on a card just recently. Nothing like a good handwritten message. ...even if the handwriting leaves a bit to be desired! ;-P

I fear that writing in any form is becoming a dying art. I've heard of schools that want to become "paper free", so where does that leave hand writing?

Whilst most of my letters have morphed into e-mails, What's app and/or phone calls. I very much miss letter-writing, yet now and again l take my fountain pen and write with turquoise ink.

@30pics4jackiesdiamond I have heard that sometimes when 365 does "house cleaning" that names get unfollowed in some accounts. As far as I know it's never happened to me, but it could have happened here- who knows?!
