No Entry

All our pubs remain closed, probably until April. The landlord of The Ship must look out at his car park and cry. It's full of walkers' cars.

My challenge to Laura was to be inspired by "Looking In" harder than expected!
This is fabulous...but so sad for these companies. It’s great in b&w - really brings out the light shining in.

Oh this is so sad. There are lots of businesses that are just not going to survive.

Love the tones in this.

You have to do take out (I think you call it Takeaway) or eat outside here. I try to do take out to support the local restaurants. But eating outside in these temps Brrrr. Some places have igloo of clear plexiglass to eat in. Still brrr.

There are probably looking at some crazy woman on their CCTV. Suited to B&W.

Great b&w, defiantly sad that those places can’t open

It's heartbreaking, isn't it? Car park full of not thirsty walkers on their way in after a hike, but just walkers who can't come in. Nice image for the words.

It's sad that so many businesses will never recover from this.
January 16th, 2021
Sadly, there will be a complete reset of so much when we get out of this.
January 16th, 2021
Lovey shot but it is sad.
January 16th, 2021
Well captured but a tragedy for the trade .
January 16th, 2021
I agree, it's a truly sad time for landlords...
January 16th, 2021
I think you looked in very well to this one! Beautiful light and a sad historical comment about your current situation
January 16th, 2021
This was probably a nice place before the pandemic struck. Hopefully it will be again some day. So sad for the owners.
January 16th, 2021
Great shot, like it in black and white. Some dark days/ months for those businesses.
January 16th, 2021
@30pics4jackiesdiamond waiting for me to reappear!

Terrific documentary shot. Hope with the vaccines rolling out, they will be back in business soon.

Nice look at the closed bar. Do they make take out? Is that allowed there?

Hi Jackie, how about hand colouring a black and white photo this week? i was quite taken with this photo https://thegraphicsfairy.com/wp-content/uploads/blogger/-OImkbbHQNaA/TcNYQwdWHHI/AAAAAAAAMM4/WqgEBecqqOY/s1600/teaparty+vintage+image--graphicsfairy009.jpg and thought to use it for your challenge to me, and looking closely saw that it has been hand coloured, My mum recently showed me some work by one of my ancestors who was a colorist at the beginning of the 20th century which piqued my interest.

failing that, if you dont have photoshop or whatever to do that perhaps take a macro shot of a clothing detail such as a lacey or old-fashioned item.

I like the b&w and the lighting here - it seems to suit the deserted scene. :)
January 17th, 2021
Such a hard time for so many landlords and owners worldwide, fingers crossed they can make their way again soon. A good sing of the times image, perfect in b/w

@wag864 @shutterbug49 @randystreat @robz @aikiuser this pub is owned by one of the big boys in brewing, and should do ok. It's the ones that are free hold I cry for ( and frequent!)

@kali66 I have a hand coloured photograph of my mum as a child. It's so delicate.

May I look in Affinity ad how to paint ( it's on my list of things to learn- using the paint brush!) OR could I take a photo, use my watercolours on it and scan it in if I give up on processing???

@randystreat @shutterbug49 @wag864 @dutchothotmailcom @grammyn @will_wooderson @mittens @phil_sandford @merrelyn

This pub is owned by a big brewer, so will recover with tourist trade in the summer ( please let there be tourists!!). It's the free hold pubs and I feel for, and it's those little country pubs I frequent, as no tourists!!!!

It's so sad for the pubs and restaurants- I do hope the situation improves soon before some have to close their doors forever! 🤞
January 17th, 2021
When I supported beta sites for our software in GB, usually for 6 weeks at a time, I loved the small pubs. They treated me like family.
January 17th, 2021
