Kingfisher by 30pics4jackiesdiamond

Kingfisher

I am so disappointed with my kingfisher photos. If I'd had a faster shutter, a higher iso, maybe the effect of the vibrations of the boat would have been diminshed. If I'd had longer lens the cropped image it would be less pixelated and if we'd got closer I'd have zoomed less.

BUT enough of the excuses!! I did see, and get blurry photos of, three perched kingfishers and on all but one day had many lighting blue flypasts of these beautiful, elusive, kings (and queens) of the riverbank
FAV Fabulous that you showed us the difficulty of your terrific photo

How wonderful that you managed such a great shot under the circumstances.

Oh dear oh dear oh me. If I had taken this you would be singing high praises. So Mrs….. count up how many kingfisher that you spotted, sit back and reflect on the circumstances that this was taken under and give yourself a massive pat on the back.

Well, it may not be crystal clear, but I think that it has great details in focus and given the shooting situation, you did very well. Congratulations on catching this.

I heard about this birdie and saw it first here on 365. And as I am a sucker for turquoise, it instantly became my favourite birdie.

Hey but you saw kingfishers! Definitely need a big lens for bird shots.

I think you should stop beating yourself up, birds are extremely hard to photograph even under ideal conditions. I took hundreds of bird photos when I was in South Africa with my phone, point and shoot and camera with a long lens and am I happy with any of them, no. I actually think you did a pretty good job with this one, we can see the colours and detail pretty well.

Ah, I know something about that! The most important thing is that you saw them live and you have this image under your eyelids.

Jackie, I would be over the moon with this photo.. colour is brilliant, feathers so soft & you caught his eye!

Ditto everything they all said about your exciting kingfisher encounter shot. If the inset represents your zoomed shot, I am amazed that you got such a good picture of a bird that far away.
