I think I mentioned the foxgloves around the lake on my Darkroom Upload and I spent quite a long time watching bees come and go (and many were gone before I pressed the shutter!!)
Great result anyway - doesn't the editing get you in - but you can spend ages on something and compare it to the original - and delete the new one!! I don't use any of the new programs - just an old Digital Image processing program my daughter gave me - so I think the "masking" you use isn't available on mine. It does sound complicated though. I bet if you looked back through your project you'd see an awesome change in your images - you've got so many skills now. :)
