Exquisite Pain

Think this is the first Damian Hurst piece I've appreciated!! It is a statue of St Batholomew who was flayed alive. He carries his skin, a scalpel and scissors.
Wow!

Macabre to say the least! Don’t think I’d want it in my hall!

Yikes! Gruesome subject but very well done. Reminds me of a human anatomy exhibit I went to a number of years ago which was fascinating to me as a retired nurse.

A brilliant piece considering it is without its skin. I am fascinated by the glove all in one piece. Interesting capture and details.

@kjarn he looks anatomically correct
@wendyfrost it's just missing the dripping blood!
@randystreat bit like the chap who made setbout of embalming bodies and organs, but in metal!

@carole_sandford your ceiling may not be high enough!
@Dawn it certainly is!
@salza I don't like much if his work, but this was quite compelling
@haskar and displayed in such an old ornate niche
@wakelys but also beautiful

@ludwigsdiana getting the light on him was a tadk!
@elza thank you
@grammyn his stuff is wierd and often macabre!!
@joysabin it is I suppose
@narayani yes, I said that and then a double wow when saw who artist is

Hmm - not sure it would hold together quite so well without any skin, but a fascinating and well executed sculpture nevertheless!
