This was badly damaged in the fire of 1984 when a lightning bolt struck the Minster setting fire to the roof. The 7,000 pieces of glass in the window cracked into 40,000 fragments due to the heat of the fire. It was painstakingly restored and today is now one of the finest windows in the country.
