Coming In For Landing! by 888rachel

Coming In For Landing!

Happy Australia Day! We ate fish and chips in the park, and the ibis were coming from far and wide to try and steal a bit. Caught this one just as it was coming in.
Excellent timing and capture.

Great shot - have tried photographing these scavengers in the local park. Best I could do was one sitting on a rubbish bin - well done.

@777margo Thanks! I looked it up in the bird book, and in fact it is naked skin that is pink under the wings. Thanks for the fav!

@888rachel That's interesting thanks Rachel

Wonderful capture. Bloody awful birds though. The thugs of the feathered world. But this is still fav value for me. It's that space between landing gear and terra firma that does it for me.

Fantastic capture!

Amazing capture! What settings do you use when shooting birds/wildlife?
January 29th, 2014
@gamelee Well, it's fish and chips without the vinegar...
January 31st, 2014
@snaphappi Thanks Maggie, yes they are thugs. About 20 of them advanced on us, which was quite intimidating!

@spetronis Hi Steven, thanks for the comment. I try to use a fast shutter speed for all the wildlife, so change the ISO to suit. I try to have at least 1/250 second, and aperture to 3 if you can to let as much light in as possible. I think all my camera settings for each shot are available for you to see on the right of the photo? Does that help?

@888rachel Thanks! And they are all right there, don't I feel silly.

I know this is old but I clicked on your link to the your PP photos and this one I had to see full size. Fantastic - your timing, clarity, everything. And kudos to the bird for his beauty and pose,
