Teasles

Week 33 of my 52 blooms project - teasles. The ones in the garden have finished blooming now and are drying and releasing their seeds. Here are some when they first starting flowering.
I found a new and interesting fact about these plants today. I was aware that rain water collects in the stem joint where the leaves are attached. This is a place where small insects are trapped and apparently provide nutrition for the plant. Those with less insects produce less florets than those with a high insect entrapment. Well, you live and learn!!
Great shot. Love the muted colors
