London skyline by Cherrill

London skyline

A trip to London today as I had a date with Glen Campbell! along with a few others at the Festival Hall. Not everyone's taste I know but his songs span the decades and since his announcement of suffering from Alzheimer's, this is his last tour. Wonderful, sad, funny, sold out, all the songs, with a rousing rendition of Rhinestone Cowboy!!
Wish I'd been there.

"there's been a load of compromisin', on the road to my horizon...." haha remember this from TOTP when I was a kid. That's a nice view, I'll be down there to see Matilda in a couple of days

@rich57 Thought of you and @andycoleborn as I took a few London shots. We went to the National Gallery so I was hoping to sneak a bench shot for you but the whole square was taken up by some NFL thing! Shame! Matilda? Nice singing btw! lol

great London view - from Hungerford Bridge? I heard Glen Campbell interviewed before this tour - he's still a brilliant singer although he's finding it hard now

Love your shot - especially with the red buses on the bridge. I saw him on a talk show the other day talking about his tour and his Alzheimer's. It was very poignant. Cherrill, I went to the arboretum yesterday - it was wonderful. I posted a collage for you! Thanks for reminding me about it.

@snowy Thank you Diana for the fave.....always a wonderful view despite its changing over the years. Yes the evening was wonderful, I hadn't seen him before and def there were some stumbles and mind wanderings during the show, but when he sang and played the guitar, he seemed to be a different person.

super shot... haha, now I can't get Rhinestone Cowboy out of my head...

Alzheimer's you say? Did he remember the words or was there a lot of 'na ma ma ma na' and 'dum te dum dum tiddly' and humming? Poor taste, I know, but what do you expect from a crass colonial ;)

What a cool scene! I love the iconic buses on that bridge!

@brizmako Hhmmm.....apparently music is a great trigger for memory and when he sang and played it was great. Between times he used an autocue and play list and was guided and reminded once or twice by his band. He has been interviewed a lot before this tour and is supported by his wife. He seems to come to information and songs as if they were new but his music still captured the audience completely.

Fantastic view! Glad that the weather was great for your trip!

Nice view of the skyline.

Glen was my favorite as a child, not Rhinestone Cowboys, but Galveston and Witchita Lineman still make me sing along. Wish I'd been there, London and Glen, what a combo.
