I haven't taken part in the 'get pushed' challenge but do take inspiration from other people who do the type of shots I wouldn't normally try.
My hoverfly subject is nothing original, although a favourite of mine, but normally I would get right up close and post a macro picture. @steveh posted a butterfly picture this week and I was impressed with the whole composition and the surrounding space. So here is my attempt at a subject within its environment.
Lovely focus. I agree, I tend to get very close and even crop to get in closer but sometimes the surrounding environment is good for the overall composition xx
nice pov and composition using the plant - I vary what I do with insect and plant shots - I suspect it's who I follow and what I see in composition - I find being pushed is great to experiment and try other things out
Great macro and I love the way you have included the out of focus plant as well, it tells much more of the story. Fav for me and I shall attempt to copy you - isn't 365 inspirational!
@judithdeacon You're so right! I completely lost my way with my project but lately I seem more inspired. And again yes, it puts the subject in context. I've been looking at some of my pictures and thinking, well, what's so interesting about that? LOL Thanks as always for you comments.
Hey Cherrill , that's really nice... Me inspiring people wow that's a first .. Lol.. Thanks for the very big compliment so glad you liked it & that it's given you a idea or two, that's what this website is best at ... ( ps the one from yesterday .. It is chilli oil being poured into a wine glass full of water , the background is white Perspex . Then it's been tweaked in Lightroom to make the background more white.... The chilli oil had been sitting on the windowsill for a while and as a result the sun had turned it golden ) Thanks again
Lovely composition, and I like the pretty colors! I do tend to want to get as close as I can to my subject (especially if it's an insect, spider or flower), so my photos do get boring after a while! 8D
The hoverfly is beautifully in focus and I like the composition of the shot, also that the yellow flowers surrounding are in focus but others are more part of the background. (I also know that a bee is not a hoverfly now!)
I know what you mean! I, too, want to get as close as possible to my subject and have been trying to widen my shots . Who knows, one day I might even shoot something other than flowers! ;-) This is lovely, by the way!
@steveh Thanks for the inspiration!
