Chew Mail Pouch by Swazzette

Chew Mail Pouch

I had to include this shot for two reasons. One is that I love these Mail Pouch Tobacco signs. They used to be painted on just about every barn across the midwest when I was little. When I was learning to read, I would proudly proclaim "Chew Mail Pooch!" every time I saw one. Oh, and note the old Chew Mail Pouch ad still visible next to the new one. Too cool!

Secondly, this is painted on the side of a building that my great-grandmother mentioned in a 1914 letter. She lived near it and noted that although it used to be a saloon, it was now (in 1914), an ice cream parlor. Ironically,'s back to being a pretty rowdy saloon, despite the quaint name of the East End Cafe. It's located in Zanesville for those who are familiar with southeastern Ohio.
This is such a cool shot!

Great find! It seems like we still have a few Mail Pouch barns around... I'll have to watch for them when we'e out driving!

Boy, you are all over the place. I went to this place once when I was staying in Cinci to see some bands. If I remember correctly, this place showcases some pretty good musicians.
