Tiffany Ceiling by Swazzette

Tiffany Ceiling

The day after my birthday, I was able to spend some time in Chicago's Loop and as always, paid a visit to the old Marshall Field's store (now Macy's). One of the best things about this old gem is the amazing architecture, including this atrium ceiling.

For those interested in its history, I'll include this quote from Macy's site: "world’s largest Tiffany vaulted ceiling made of colorful iridescent glass. This spectacular work of art was installed in 1907 and contains over 1.6 million pieces of the sparkling hand-fired glass. Louis Comfort Tiffany designed and personally supervised the ceiling’s installation, and it took 50 artisans on scaffolds 1½ to 2 years to complete."
I opened this up and my first thought was, "This isn't the Dominican Republic"! Immediately then I knew you'd paid a visit to Marshall Field's, always to be remembered as such as is Sear's Tower! You got a lovely photo...I, too have tried for much the same in the long-ago past, but not with much success!
