Taking pictures daily is a good excuse to open the cupboards and bring forgotten treasures out into the light of day. These were from my mother's family, who lived for several generations in New Orleans (where I was born). A little ostentatious for this day and age, I've never used them...before today...10:30 AM...for a photo.
I know exactly what you mean about opening cupboards, etc!
This composition is wonderful.
The service is quite lovely, and goes so well with the damask and the chairs. The delicate silver, the rich colour of the tablecloth.... SO antebellum!
But the Grand Marnier really MAKES the shot! ;-)
Nice composition! Such a beautiful set - I can see what you mean about them being a bit too fancy for regular use these days but it's nice that you were able to feature them on 365 since they are a family heirloom.
I love antique sets such as this. I guess each glass is different so after you do "tipple" a bit you can tell your glass from someone elses! You set up this shot so nicely, The tablecloth and chairs we see makes me think you might still be in New Orleans!
the color of the table cloth and the ribbon on the grand manier bottle stand out for me very well arranged i hope you and your guest enjoyed an easter drink out of those beautiful old glasses. a true heirlum
Okay, borrowing a phrase from Allison ... you've just peeled another layer off of the "Louise onion!" Born in New Orleans, but lived in Honolulu until you were 8. Hmmmm ... I wonder what your dad did. Was he in the military? (Gorgeous set, BTW!)
oh wow! these are so fancy and pretty to look at it! love the lighting and i love old things like that, i always wonder what life looks like back in the 18 or 19th centuries, so mysterious... :))
I really love the silver work in this set. All of the detail is just amazing. Glad you opened up your cupboard. I can almost hear the glasses singing for joy.
