Not ready to venture out as "a single", I asked my best girlfriends to share a group hug with me tonight. That's Judee on the left (with whom we play Monday night Scrabble) and Helen in the center and me on the right. We'd just had dinner at Helen's for the evening.
The three of us have been "near" neighbors for 37 years, members of the same college sorority, shared birthdays, annual Christmas parties, weddings, funerals, child rearing, weekends, ski trips, house boating vacations, river rafting, highs, lows, laughs and tears.
Last summer the two of them flew up to Nova Scotia to visit us. As we went many places, sightseeing, we'd walk off in different directions sometimes, taking in all the sights. On one afternoon in Bedeck, Cape Breton, Ken was heard to say, "Keeping you all rounded up is like herding cats!" The name stuck.
I love this picture so much, Louise!
How very special, to have shared so many life moments with your dear friends.
How lovely that you could share your Nova Scotia home with them.
Love Ken's comment, and your collective name! Meow! ;-)
I want to have friends of 37 years. Even one would be priceless. What a wonderful moment captured! Love it. And Louise, of course I thought it was your squirrel shot. You become the animal charmer.... second only to Jodie of course. ; ]
What a lovely photo. The love just oozes out. I have a reunion planned in July with two girlfriends. We met at 17 and all turn 60 this year so are meeting for a few days of celebrations in Melbourne.
Friends that stick with you through thick and thin are the best to have and you three lovely ladies look so happy.
two of my best friends i know for more than 50 years are both living in the US one in california and the other in new jersey. a third one lucky for me lives very close by and we see each other once a week. i stay in contact with the two who immegrated from canada to the united states per phone and nowadays by skype. friends as will agree are so precious.
What a very nice pic. You are blessed to have friends for such a long time to share things with. In the past two years my wife has had two very close friends move across the country after retiring. Of course her real best friend is writing this. :-)
Brings to mind the verse from Proverbs 18:24 "A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticket closer than a brother." How blessed you are Louise!
haha aww cute! i hope my best friends and i will last as long as you and your best friends. i think this is a great way to start "showing your face" :)
p.s. my middle name is helen. when i saw your friends name was helen i got really excited :)
Thank you all... You'd all about die laughing or be in disbelief to actually know some of what we've "shared" over the years...many times not always what we'd have chosen to reveal, but we've *always* been there for one another. For me, personally, without extended family to speak of, Judee's & Helen's families have been ours, too.
Ken's three cats..hehe, I have friends that I have known for 20 years, but since I moved, it's been a little difficult, but thank goodness for the internet and texting we still keep in touch and have laughs almost everyday. Also I have become addicted to scrabble, I decided to give it a try because of you and it's so much fun!
"You'd all about die laughing or be in disbelief to actually know some of what we've "shared" over the years..." Louise, no further explanation needed since you've mentioned that you went to college together...Yep, been there, done that. Teehee. How truly blessed you are to have such a "family" of friends. Have a couple, myself, and I treasure them all beyond words. This photo just makes me smile. :-)
What a joyful shot of you with your girlfriends ... this will be one for all of you to treasure!
Thanks for your lovely comments, Louise ... last night's silliness was a BLAST! Thanks for playing! It would have been nice to preserve all of it, but since it wasn't "my" shot, I didn't feel like it should live in perpetuity in my album!
BTW, it's snowing again today ... ugh!!! But, you notice that I "saved" you all from yet another snow shot! (No promises about tomorrow, however!)
What a wonderful photo and a great story. Funny how our friends become our family. We're always joking with our friends that we should all just get a great big house and live together so as we get older we'll be able to take care of each other. I'm thinking that might not be a bad idea...lol
I am still learning Shutterlfy LOL. Anyways, here is my email address: andybphotography@yahoo.com. I was wondering if you can email me so I can keep in touch w/you =)
@Louise - I know what you mean about extended families. My own is fairly limited (another long story...) so I have been lucky to marry into my husband's family and have gathered around me a lovely family of friends. These friends are priceless!
What a great picture. What I really like that you can see the connection that you share! It is wonderful to have such friends. I can't help but feel happy for you :)
First of all, this is an awesome picture of you and your girlfriends :) I hope I stick with the ones I have now...but I'm sure I'll make new ones downt the road :) second of all, did you end up adding a picture of Charles? I was at school and just came home to all of those comments lol I think I'm keeping Charlie as a name...but I will call him a she from now on...because like you said...she is no doubt a female haha I don't know why I thought she was a boy at first. jUst seemed like one I guess.
This is such a sweet picture :) My husband is military so sadly every few years we have to move away from our friends- they are all family to us now- we go threw good times and bad together, celebrate holidays together when we cant see our families. At our last base I had a wonderful group of friends-- we are now 'fridge friends'- we have pictures of our group on one anothers fridges and we make a point to skype ( I am the only one who moved thus far) once a month so we can all be together-- you are truly lucky to have your friends nearby!
Loiuse! What a great photo. To see you with your girlfriends is just wonderful. I too have girlfriends who have shared my life for 40 + years and it's still just like yesterday that we met. We can pick up where we left off. I know the happiness you show in this photo :D We are truly blessed.
Louise, you are so right - friendship is a treasured part of our lives. I have one girlfriend that I have known since I was 5 and met her at school in year 1. She lives close by in the next suburb and it's just wonderful - we have "matured" together :D and are now sharing our grandchildren.
Lovely smiles and such a nice hug, Louise!!! I'm happy to know that you have friends for such a long time. Thank you for sharing your life story. I also could not imagine a life without friends.
Louise... U ROCK!!!!!!!! and this is such and amazing picture.. it reflects the liftime of togatherness that u guys have shared. You are absolutely cute...cuddly Charlies Angels!!! "HUGS" to all of u
Louise... Its a priviledge to share the 365 space with u.. I will be more than blessed to have a sweet person as a friend...I truly cherish u and all the guys and girls here at 365!!!!!!!
Nothing better than good girlfriends over the years...they understand things husbands & boyfriends never do. And laugh...things always seem funnier when you are with your good buddies! Wonderful photo of the 3 of you!
This is so sweet. I can feel the friendship! Reminds me of a similar photo of me and my good friends. But two of the ladies in my photo passed away while only in their 50's. They were two of my best friends and both were nurses. One died from recurrent breast cancer and the other died from pancreatitis. I still think of them and miss them. Anyway, this is a great photo to cherish!
