For all of you who love your cats and share them with us, this wonderful poem has been a favorite of mine since I was very young. I've had both a "Tat" and now, "Pink"...
Tattoo was the mother of Pinkle Purr,
A little black nothing of feet and fur;
And by and by, when his eyes came through,
He saw his mother, the big Tattoo.
And all that he learned he learned from her,
"I'll ask my mother," says Pinkle Purr.
Tattoo was the mother of Pinkle Purr,
A ridiculous kitten with silky fur.
And little black Pinkle grew and grew
Till he got as big as the big Tattoo.
And all he did he did with her.
"Two friends together," says Pinkle Purr.
Tattoo was the mother of Pinkle Purr,
An adventurous cat in a coat of fur.
And whenever he thought of a thing to do,
He didn't much bother about Tattoo.
For he knows it's nothing to do with her,
So "See you later," says Pinkle Purr.
Tattoo was the mother of Pinkle Purr,
An enormous leopard with coal-black fur.
A little brown kitten that's nearly new
Is now playing games with its big Tattoo...
And Pink looks lazily down at her:
"Dear little Tat," says Pinkle Purr.
A. A. Milne
Autumn called me today and told me I could now "peek"...and I'm stunned...completely! You guys are "killing me" (softly with your love)...I hardly know what to say. Please read my note to you all at the end of your loving and very dear thread...
and **thank you** so much!

I'm stunned and overwhelmed as I go through all the ohotos with my name tagged on them this afternoon! I don't want to pass through them lightly, so please, I'm coming to each of them as soon as I can.
I nearly daily try to respond to each of you who leaves me a comment below, but I just don't know that time is going to allow. I know so many of you have been by and may not see this, but I can only hope you will...
You've left me speechless for sure, but I'm trying to find the words...
Louise...over the past few months you have had encouraging and humourous words for all of us. You have taken the time and the least we can do is give a little back.....
btw gorgeous cat....
What a lovely picture of your "girl"! Her coat looks so soft.
Thanks again for the great idea for the T-shirts and group photo, so fun and too funny. Hope we can do it. Did you have a chance to see the photo link I posted on your most recent squirrel picture, it's of my cousin who I joking called the squirrel whisperer while he was visiting a few weeks ago. :)
dear louise, this is such a gorgeous photo to say goodbye....my photo for today is also dedicated to you, but it doesn't matter if you cannot look at it soon, just wanted to wish you a wonderful and safe journey! till your next project....
I've never read this poem, Louise, even though I love A.A.Milne. What an incredibly "cat-ish" piece of poetry ... I smiled all the way through it. Your Pink is gorgeous. I wish you safe travels and a beautiful, beautiful summer with those you love.
can I just thank you for visiting and leaving all the lovely comments that you leave...ive felt so terrible the past week for not having time to reciprocate :( Just wanted to let you know your words are truly appreciated.
What a beautiful portrait of you kitty. She looks mysterious! I love the poem, too---quite fitting. You have touched many people, Louise. Thank you for your warm smile and kind words. May the sun shine for you and your loved ones this day :o)
Gorgeous, beautiful cat!
Sadly, as an adult, I have developed an allergy to cats ( as well as everything else, it seems. Save for Brad...which is a good thing, I'm guessing! )
BUT. My childhood pet....that was MINE and no one else's, was a black cat named Gussy ( full name, Augustus Caesar Madill....don't ask me why....except the last name there was my maiden name - don't recall studying Rome at the time.....my bet is - seriously - I got him in August. I like using brackets and dots, btw....!)
Anyhoooo...... I Ioved that cat like nobody's business.
I couldn't take him with me when I moved out...no pets allowed, but he kept my mom company for another 5 years.
He passed away, just after Kyle was born, so I guess the universe was telling me it was his time, and gave me a 'little' something to help me miss Gussy less, in return! ;-).
I have always had such an affinity for black cats, since then.
My brother and his lovely wife and my nephews Conor and Ty ( the ones I make sure to always have candy on hand for ) have the gorgeous black cat now, named......yes it's true....."Kitty Kitty."
Kitty Kitty has the most beautiful luxurious fur, which she good-naturedly lets me pet, until I start to sneeze, that is.
But I won't be deterred, even by that, as it is one of life's most visceral tactile pleasures, to be able to pet a cat that purrs when you touch it.
I love black cats!
Kelly, next door, has a black cat....and a couple of weeks ago, I took a picture of it staring at me through the lattice of our shared fence.
It's not the best photo, but perhaps I will post it soon, just for you!
And speaking of just for you....
Happy today, my friend! XO
Louise, you are amazing!!! I just read your poem response!!! How wonderful of you to write back in rhyme!!! ;-)) Me and Tao are so glad that we put a smile on your face and could be part of the stunning surprise Autumn organized for you!! :-) Your lovely words and supportive comments mean a lot to everybody on 365, and that's the least we could do for you! It's great to know that there's still so much love in the world, and in our big 365 family!!
I adore cats, and Pink's picture is soo beautiful!!! I've never come across that poem before, thank you so mcuh for sharing it with us! Love the rhythm of it - A. A. Milne, what more to say ;-)
Have a great day, and know that we all are experiencing the happiness through, and with you! :-))
What a gorgeous black shiny coat and yellow eyes. Definitely a Cat Of Great Distinction! Thank you for all your warm/funny/kind/supportive comments over the last few months - I've really enjoyed getting to know you through 365. Have a wonderful summer...
Me too (love the internet I mean!). Zap, zap, zap - all these wonderful messages flying across the world - one day it would be fun to draw up a map and plot the locations of all the 365 community!
B.t.w, your comment on my Water Fight photo about being a Proper English Lady made me laugh so much - don't know whether you saw my response (I should have put it on your page, not mine, I realise) but suffice to say that I think your illusions could be seriously shattered if you'd seen me there!
Hi, lovely to get your note. Not Ephesus this time. spent many happy days there previously. This time going to Kas on the South East coast. Will post links and so on when I've got there. (Also know the hospitals around Ephesus very well as we were in a car crash on one of our trips.)
am pleased that you've had a happy day! It was fun!
I am SO glad you are having a Happy Day!
That makes ME happy!
Thank you for your lovely words...as always!
Brad and I both, hope you have such a lovely vacation....and of course, I am excited that you will be spending it in Canada!
I've never asked...do you own a home there, or do you rent the same place, every year.....and what made you decide on Cape Breton Island as your home away form home?
I've not been to Lunenburg.....but I am familiar with the pictures, and know exactly in my mind, what your street looks like.
There's no one like Maritimers, is there?
My aunt and uncle live in Sackville, New Brunswick...but the one time we DID visit ( they spend a lot of time here, as their kids live here ), we only ventured as far as Amherst and Springhill, NS.
We've always said we want to go back, but life always seems to get in the way! ;-)
Maybe ONE day......after weddings and such, we can head back...but of course, we always feel that we should visit Kelsey&Ian, when we travel( which we love to do, so it's def not a hardship! ;-), so there's that!
I thought I saw you say something about Cape Breton once, so I thought that's where you might be.
LOVE that your house is purple!
Pink looks like such a lovely cat! Really hope you have a wonderful summer, it's been a pleasure to get to know you through this site over the last few weeks ;-D
What a great photo! I have been trying to photograph my black kitty cat lately...haven't captured a photo worth posting yet...By the way, Happy Louise Day!
Louise its amazing. I love the poem. I show my husband the picture of your cat. He asked me "when did you take that picture of Tiger?". Its amazing too :-)
@katswhiskers From your profile photo, I see you have a look-alike! Now, besides Pink, we were adopted by another black cat (male) this summer, but, while he lives in our yard, he doesn't want us to touch him...
@Weezilou the kitty in the piccie is one that likes to greet me in the street, I do however have a kitty who look very like Pink, she is called Boo, I have her daughters Tia and Tasha who have much more white on them, they take after their Dad, Fidget who sadly died. All my furkids, I have a dog called Magic too, are Black & White, you will be seeing them in the future :) sorry to waffle on, I get talkative about my furkids lol
