Meet Dill's Official Family, and our neighbors and best friends.
A week ago I asked them to join us for dinner tonight, completely forgetting that we'd be taking John & Ashley up to the airport (1.5 hr away) with plans to stop, while we were near Halifax, to make a Costco run and do some additional shopping. The night before, I got a note from Billy telling me that they were going to take care of dinner for us.
As they have a key to our house, we arrived home around 5:30 to find the table freshly set, candles lit, and music in the living room. David was already in the kitchen preparing dinner (he's an amazing cook!) He'd created an antipasto for an appetizer, scallops and leeks (in a lot of butter and cream) over linguini for dinner, salad, and a chocolate-whisky cake for dessert. It was the sweetest gesture, and delicous food. We ended the evening with champagne and conversation in the living room, Dill curled up in "his" livingroom chair & looking exactly like this again http://365project.org/Weezilou/365/2010-05-14 (Billy kept telling me to take pictures of him and didn't remember I had one of him in the same position already. ...now do you remember?)
Thank you guys for making this a memorable anniversary! You're just the best!
Thanks for creating the link. I missed that picture the first time. Dill is irresistible! Glad you were cosseted on your anniversary. You certainly have great friends--both human and feline!
happy anniversary! that cake looks yummy! so glad that you have wonderful friends like that, they are hard to come by these days! here's to many more happy years for the two of you!
How wonderful! It's nice to meet the people that Dill lets live in his house. Isn't that the way it usually is? Cats own the homes, right? I've enjoyed hearing all about their hospitality. Good friends are so wonderful...and something to value. Wonderful picture!
Love the wedding picture and of course I had to follow Heather now too LOL.
Louise, thank you so much for your comment on my butterfly blog! I was surprised to go in there this morning and see comments! I always forget to look. You are welcome to share the link anywhere you'd like! One lady said she found it on a jewelry making board and my daughter (happilybarefoot) posts it on her diaper making boards. I love when the word gets out about the monarchs, so thank you!
looks like a great aniversary.. yummy cake and some tanned men in the picture! My kitties would have had paw prints and teeth marks all over the cake and cake all over their paws and whiskers! Thanks for lovely comments on syko and Nero, they just had their cat flu injections and are very quiet...... for now....
Louise - I have seen all of those animals in my yard. My backyard is about 1 acre of woods. That is small to average in this area. I have the occasional sunk or raccoon also, but who doesn't.
Wow what a lovely surprise! Loved your wedding photo on Heather's page ! I realise that I was a little baby when you were married & you don't look old enough for that to be possible! : D
Btw I did use an iphone to take the rose photo, it was using the hipstamatic app which i think is really cool as it makes retro looking photos and you can play about with different lenses, film and flashes.
I just wish I could have read all the comments but I am running out of time and need to get to bed...work will call very early in the morning. But it looks like we both have wonderful friends! What a treat your friends made for you! When we come to visit I would like to meet them too!
Thanks for playing matchmaker for me and Christine. Here's the really amazing thing; Before she moved, she lived in the same city I do! I'd tag that with "eerie" but that was last week's theme.
Happy Anniversary!!! :) about your comment in my multiplicity photo the two pictures were taken in the same room. I have known Aly for 7 years now and I encourage her to join 365. ;)
They look like such nice guys! And I loved your wedding photo--it's wonderful to still see you looking so happy today.
Thanks for your comment on my page. I believe that a home develops a personality or a vibe or something over time, and this place has always had such a good one. :)
Yay Billy and Dave! I wish we could have spent more time hanging out with them. I wish I could have been able to have some of the homemade cake as well.
HAPPY HAPPY Anniversary Dear Friends!
What a special day!
What lovely friends you have in David and Billy.
*waves at the boys!*
Louise, I was speaking to my best friend about you yesterday ( as she was hopping a plane to Germany...wouldn't you love to just HOP a plane to Germany? And then take a Mediterranean Cruise from Barcelona? Oh, the joy! )...and I told her that you collect "people"...or rather people are magnetically drawn to you....as they are to her husband, which we have talked about often.
Anyway...what a lovely quality to have, we've both decided.
And how wonderful to be within your radius!
I think Lunenburg is lucky to have you infuse their fair city each summer with your enthusiasm and effervescence. To say nothing of all of the tourism advertising dollars you are surely saving them! ;-)
And I love that you have become an honourary Canadian, who has much insight into what makes us - a rather eccentric, but very proud people - tick. XO
Oh...yes...just a clarification form something you posted earlier on one of my photos...
Kyle and Maria live here in Vancouver, so we get to visit with them fairly often. YAY! It's Kelsey and Ian who live away from us.
I am glad that you had a lovely visit with Ashley and John, but am sorry it seemed to go by so fast! But that also means that it;s that much closer to Grandma time! And just 4 months away from wedding time for me!!!
Kyle and Maria are currently in the process of booking their wedding now, so that's fun.
My kids really like holidays, it seems!
Kelsey is getting married on Thanksgiving, and Kyle is getting married on July 1, 2011.
Oh, that reminds me...what are July 1st celebrations like in Lunenburg?
And...if we ever get back to New Brunswick to visit my aunt and uncle again ( though our travel $$$ have to go to visiting Kelsey and Ian, these days...not that we mind! ;-)... Brad and I must surely stop by and say HI!
What a wonderful Anniversary present from David and Billy! Sounds like you had a wonderful day (and evening). I love the pic that Heather put up of you two just glowing on your wedding day. Just adorable! :-)
Happy Anniversary!!!! I have been waaay behind on my comments and I am only just now getting to see this, so sorry for my belated sentiments. The photo from your wedding day is fantastic! You two look so happy in that picture, and it warms my heart that you seem just as happy together today, 41 years later. What a great way to spend your anniversary, too - that was so sweet of your friends to do. :)
Happy Anniversary a little late! Sooo, is that all there is to it...you give someone your key and they surprise you with dinner and dessert? Cool! I'm gonna try it...oh, you probably have to be very selective in who you give the key to - lol
