More than once today one or another of us said aloud how blessed we were to be spending such a beautiful day together. I've got such a terrific circle of friends! After I baked a cake for the party tonight, we headed down the coast, stopping at a truly quaint little restaurant for lunch, going back to the art gallery in Petitre Reviere, and then shopping for dinner. Billy, David and Dill came over to join the birthday party shortly after we got home. Jim manned the bar, Ken grilled the macadamia nut crusted salmon, Marlaine roasted garlic to add to mashed potatoes, & Jerry wrapped asparagus with prosciutto & smoked cheese. (Nelda was busy receiving one phone call after another wishing her a happy birthday!) I've received comments asking me how I'm keeping the weight off with all this good food (thanks for bringing that up, Denise!)...the truth is, I'm not so sure I am! We capped all that off with champagne, cake and chocolates and said *happy birthday* to Nelda & David who both shared July 2nd birthdays. Jerry's birthdy is the 8th, and we're planning to do this all again next week!
This evening, I used "the candle light" setting on my camera, and I've got mixed feelings about it. Some pictures turned out better than others, but live and learn!
It's 2:20 AM as I post my picture, and it wasn't too long ago the party broke up for the night. I appreciate all the comments you've been so dear to leave, but I guess you understand why I haven't had much free time for responding and looking at pictures!
The cake looks great. How nice of you to mention Dill as one of the guests. I'll take your posting as an early BD wish, since mine is on the 7th, and say thank you! You've been in my thoughts although I've been too pre-occupied to take or post photos for a few days. It sounds as though a good time is being had by all and that's what's important.
The candle light setting worked perfectly for this shot- the tones are great. We have a newly minted family birthday on the 2nd July - my sister just had a not so wee (4.7kg) boy last night :)
Must you give us all the details to the amazing food & drink you're having? :) As for the candle setting I think it came out good. Especially considering you were relying on just 6 candles...awfully kind of you might I add.
It looks like they had a really happy birthday :) I ran into a friend yesterday who was planning to make a cake shaped like a crab for her two friends who were Pisces! when she told me i actually thought she was going to put actual crab in the birthday cake... it would have made or a very fishy cake!
And again so many happiest smiles, just lovely. Don't worry about "the not being so present" on 365, the summertime has to be spent with friends and going places as well as celebrating parties.
Happy birthday....happy day every day! It's so good to see that you are living and having fun and doing the things that you so enjoy with your circle of friends.
Another fun and heartwarming photo, Louise! You are so lucky to have such a fantastic circle of friends. I like this picture - it doesn't really matter what lighting setting you use when your friends have such brilliant smiles that can light up any photo. :-D
My son has a July 2 birthday as well. My OB didn't want to miss the holiday so we made sure Max arrived a little early. I wonder how many other pre-holiday birthdays are for the convenience of the doctor.
i like the candles on the cake, i think the candlelight setting really worked well. also, there is a warm glow that just adds to the feeling of love in the photo! glad to hear dill was there for the festivities!
Happy Birthday to all the July birthday people! Sounds like you are still having an awesome time and have lots of awesome friends there. Your meal sounds very yummy! I'm not an asparagus fan but you made even that sound great.
Both my kids are July babies. 11 years and 5 days apart.
Just a wonderful picture.
Yes! I understand about answering all your comments.
It's really not humanly possible every day.
I found it very stressful sometimes, so i try to get to get to most once a week to explain & comment on their shots :)
Don't feel bad :D
I really like the lighting of this shot, it feels very intimate and cozy. My daughter's 1st birthday is coming up so I'm looking forward to some birthday cake myself, although not so much looking forward to those unneeded calories!
