Take this for what it is today...just a snapshot, but an apt representation of the day. That's (a not so good image of) Ken, Billy & David. (My folk-art owl from Nelda is a "seat filler" for Dill who didn't put in an appearence.) As it was a rainy day that poured buckets, the guys came over to watch the Bastille Day Parade on a French television channel. Midway, I got the notion to make waffles & bacon, a summer favorite. Without any pre-planning, the day just unfolded... We ended up visiting over coffee in the living room until mid-afternoon. When I eventually sat down at the computer, I was surprised to see how many others of you had a rainy day in your part of the world as well. I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!
it actually wasn't rainy at all here!... although, it's so humid that it might as well be. xD
I like this photo! Like you said, it really represents your day. Love it (:
so glad you had Nelda to fill in for Dill! Nelda is a real beauty! and lucky to be surrounded by these handsome menfolk. This looks like a great way to spend a rainy day, friends and food!
Well I think the photo is just fine. It captures a fine moment in time. It does seem like you guys have the busy life, and I think it is so neat that you all enjoy it as much as you do. Good for you. Life should be fun.
What a wonderful way to fill a rainy day! I don't blame Dill for not putting in an appearance... I wouldn't have ventured out today either if I didn't have to! I do like his stand-in, though.
Was not raining in Chicago today but my wife said it was raining back home. My Bastille Day routine was to give my presentation. My presentation went well today. The food looks good on the table.
Louise, we could use a rainy day. It was 96 yesterday and today and it never cooled off so we could sleep last night. Our air cond. is broken and can't afford to fix it right now. I'm a little grouchy I guess... sorry. :-) I like your brunch photo. Waffle and bacon are one of my favorites.
i'm so jealous!! you all will have a WONDERFUL time on your holiday!! i absolutely loved paris and want to go back so badly!! can't wait to see your pics--it's actually not that far off!! (:
lots of rain here, but there always is in england! hehe! i love the little owl, i didn't notice it at first! made me smile! sometimes the unplanned days are the most enjoyable!
coincidentally, it was also rainy in melbourne, but we need it badly as we do not get enough water down here. i came home dripping wet from the train station after forgetting to bring my umbrella, or not driving to work...
Haha! Love the 'seat filler'. :) Sounds like a perfectly fun day to me. Sometimes rainy days make you fill the time together inside and turn out just as wonderful as any other.
Oh the welcoming rain that we missed in hubby's hometown where it is suppose to be raining 360 out of 365 days. but this year they had a heat wave.. the last days were unbearable as they are not used to it therefore they have no air conditioning. oh well we are home again. an unplanned day at your place was most likely just as welcome where the guys could sit together and enjoy the parade especially in the rain so the guys had some fun time and you enjoyed your day (or at least some time} on the computer.
it didn't rain here..though i think it was supposed to. anyways, nice group shot. and nice breakfast. i'm just having coffee and pb & j.
maybe i should try that recipe......i'm lucky to have found someone who would try my experimental cuisine.....i mean he eats what i manage to make every day....so what's another one, right? he's still alive...digestive system still functioning normally, so i guess i'm not so bad =)
The seat-fillers' a great touch. :) .. Would love having such a group over for a 'free-form' day ... has been very hot (95 F) here in the central U.S. (would not mind a rainy day!) .. Thanks for reaching out! :-) .. *following* :-)
And what a nice snapshot it is!! I agree with Clarissa, I'll take a waffle, plain! Although if you have any applesauce I'd love some of that on it LOL. Looks like you had a lovely morning!
Great looking brunch, my tummy is rumbling & it's bedtime as I post this here in the UK! It was showery here today in London, wierd to have similar weather over such a wide area if the world!
who's on that green chair that i like? an owl? you are too funny! of course my eyes are wondering around looking at the little decoration you have, lovely china set, cute girl in the swimming suit(whatever that is :), lovely candle holders...sorry i didn't really pay much attention to the boys :) the decoration is so you! :) i just love it!
MMMMMWaffles and bacon! YUM! With your favourite boys ( sans Dill )!
Sounds like an absolutely brilliant and restful day.
Which I am sure you sorely needed! ;-)
LOVE the Folk Art Owl!
Such a good photo with a nice story attached.
Must try the combination one day :D
Over here the 15th was my brother Iain's 68th birthday - we were away, but the weather here in Brisbane was glorious and sunny - tp of 22dg C
Sometimes the snapshots, I've learned, are really the ones that tell the story of the day. I like the fact that everyone is just as there are. I also like how Ken is looking back towards you...watching you take the picture in an approving, loving way. Too bad Dill had more important things to do! That cat! haha!
