It was a very full day in which we left the house several times, but Dill remained & greeted us on each return. I baked Almond Cresents for a dinner tonight and went out back several times for photos. When he sat looking at me here, I knew I had my picture.
David cooked us a wonderful dinner tonight that began with a cold avacado soup (seasoned with curry & coconut milk & topped with sour cream and cilantro) ...it was (delicious) (sublime) (awesome!) After dinner we spent the late evening watching an old movie ("Broadway Rhythm") in which Billy's uncle had a role and did a tap dance sequence.
As we walked home at midnight, the fog had enveloped the town and the fog horn was sounding out on the water. Yes, you know I'd have loved to have saved it all in a picture...
I think you painted a wonderful picture of your day. Sounds fabulous. Glad to hear you got to enjoy some Solid Potato Salad as well. And this is a most regal shot of Dill.
Dill is so photogenic, and you got a wonderful shot of him. Dinner sounds absolutely delicious, and how fun that Billy's uncle had a role in the movie you watched. I LOVE the imagery of the fog enveloping the town and I can hear the foghorn sounding. Sounds like another great day!
Louise, you don't know how it lifts my heart to hear (and see!) that you are having such a wonderful summer. Each one of these little nuggets that you have shared is a treasure...and you are seriously going to have to talk me out of coming up with some wild plan to kidnap Dill. :)
What a great portrait. He certainly has cattitude, a term I picked up here on 365. Your dinner minu had my mouth watering and I haven't even had breakfast! You sure have a full life where ever you go.
Oh....Hullo again, Dill!
That face is what I am so drawn to.
It's all knowing/all seeing.
It doesn't suffer fools gladly.
It's saying, "I will only give you the time of day, if you concede that I rule the roost." and....
"What me???? Catch your OWN damn mice. I'm a lover, NOT a fighter. Now leave me alone, I have to work on my beauty sleep! Or beauty preening, take your pick. Yawn"
Or, in the immortal words of Peggy Lee, "Is that all there is?"
Or. "Yawn. Another picture. Now WHERE are my tasty treats?"
Louise, you live such a full and blessed life. How do you ever leave Lunenburg....and Dill! Who will post his picture on 365? He's come to expect it...he knows how popular he is to all of us.
Thank you for the offer of the recipe, Louise, but when I read the description to my husband his response was, "Not for me," so I think I'll just enjoy thinking about it.
Aw, Dill is SO beautiful! Do you know if he is deaf? I know the majority of white cats are.
Thank you so much for pointing me in the direction of another butterfly picture!
We went to our hot air balloon festival early this morning but it was too windy. UGH, an hour there and back for nothing. We are going back tonight to try and catch the evening liftoff if it happens.
Don't you find that everyone's life is compelling, Louise?
That's what makes this project so exciting, and so...human.
The stories that we are all telling through our lenses.
But, I also think that's why you have touched so many people here, yourself.
You recognize and honour everyone's story, photos, and lives by your lovely comments.
You GET it. You really do.
Which is what draws people to you, I think. :-)
XO
Did Dill get an almond crescent too? (: He looks like he deserves one. Love this photo. (Thank you for your comment, by the way. Tough shot for me!)
And I love foghorns, Louise. I've looked for a CD to fall asleep to with ocean waves and foghorns--but so far have only managed the ocean waves.
How beautiful he looks sitting there showing off that perfect white fur against the bright leaves and flowers - he really is a handsome cat - and so loyal too!
It sound so wonderful i can almost hear you tell the store of you guys walking home in the fog with the horn blaring. as to the recipe would sure love to have some more information on it, it sound so delicious.
Louise--thanks for the compliment on Miles' painting...I just wanted you to know that is my current horse, Hootch! He hasn't done one of Wrangler, but that's a great idea! He just started working on a huge painting of our rabbit, Ringo, and I am sure that will keep him busy until he goes back to teach at the end of August!
Dill is so gorgeous!! He looks like the king of the castle - so regal and proud! I love all the photos you post of him! It sounds like you had a delightful evening! Lunenburg enveloped in the fog - must be quite romantic!
There's my lovely "Dill" - composed as ever - waiting for you :D
What a lovely evening you had with such good friends. Lovely memories relived when watching Billy's Uncle in "Broadway Rhythm" - one of my favourite movies too.
It must be so good for him to see a his uncle up there on the screen dancing and moving - forever captured.
Great picture of Dill, I had a picture of a different Dil too yesterday! I grew up in a seaport town, and I miss the sound of those fog horns, such a lovely evocative sound.
What a terrific day and evening you had! Sounds like so much fun. And my mouth is still watering over your description of the cold avocado soup - wow!
