This morning, as most days, Billy, David, Ken and I went for our walk, and afterward stopped in town to run a quick errand. I can't remember when all four of us went to the post office together, but what a surprise was waiting for all of us! Tiina Kaaria http://365project.org/monna/365 had sent us postcards from Finland as a part of her "Postcrossing"! (That's even one to Dill that Billy's holding on the left!) We were reading them and looking at the darling Finnish stamps when Ken took our picture. Imediately afterward we saw the two women postal workers watching us, so we went over to share with them, too. It's not just any day so much mail arrives in Lunenburg from Helsinki! Thanks Tiina! That was a terrific surprise!
What a great shot, and how fun to get mail from so far away! I love that Dill got a postcard too!
I did get a shot of my husband digging into the ice cream last night (we shared a cup... don't worry, it was a big one!). I like your rationale about walking it off. The way I like to look at it is that ice cream calories don't count. My waistline disagrees, but I don't put much stock in its opinion. ;-)
How wonderful of Tiina to do so!! You all look so happy! ;-) And she even thought about Dill! ;-) I love receiving regular mail, and recently got a postcard from my mom - I bet the mailman in Washington was surprised to see a letter from Bulgaria! ;-))
Thank you for your sweet comment, Louise!! The beignets turned out wonderfully, so do give them a try! They weren't difficult to make at all, and I am sure your visitors will enjoy them! ;-) With time on my hands, and sweet cravings to satisfly, I had no choice but to make them! It's funny that until recently I had no interest in cooking, but living in the USA with no Bulgarian food around, made me quickly reconsider! Now I approach the kitchen with joy, and I am constantly on the lookout for new inspiration! Apples are on my shopping list for attempting your delicious cake... ;-) Good night, dear friend! :-)
I too do Postcrossing and love getting post cards most days, some days several. Combining postcrossing and project 365 at times can be fun and when I eventually upload the last 4 weeks photos I have a photo of me posting several cards on the 5th birthday of postcrossing which was on the 14th July. Best wishes,
What a cute picture--I love all of your smiles, it made me smile back (:
Re: comment--yes, we have very mellow cats that are good sports--haha. My daughter takes/downloads and posts all her photos on her own, I'm very proud of her! I had no idea she posted that one, though. Too funny!
What fun! And you all received them the same day, which is lucky, as even when mailed at the same time, things have a habit of being separated. Great group shot. Looks like fun was had by all.
I love this idea! I will have to look into postcrossing as well. I used to write letters and send them...and had pen pals. It just seems like this is a lost art. I can't even remember the last time that I sat down and wrote an actual letter. ! Wonderful picture and glad that Ken had it captured for you...!!
Love the idea too ! I miss letters and postcards. I would like to send a postcard from São Paulo too, Louise.
The picture is so beautiful, you are so happy !
awwww what a nice surprise!! :) I used to send b-day cards all the time--need to start up again!! :) Everyone like getting something in the mail besides bills!! :)
Love it and really like Dill's postcard too. I have already wrote down postcrossing to check it out sounds like a cool idea and look how happy it made the 3 of you
How very nice a lost art indeed , great shot by Ken too .. Thanks for the happy birthday wishes Louise & Linda says a big hello to you , ken & your pals (:
I just love the fact that you all have real smiles on your faces. So many times we put on our "camera" smile when someone takes a picture of us. I can tell that you are really smiling with happiness. love it.
