Yes, I know Dill looks tiny in this picture...that's the point. Bless his little heart, when we left to go for our walk, he followed us out to the driveway & sat watching us as we drove away. An hour later when we returned, there he was where we left him, still waiting for us. Is that not adorable?
And another reason he looks so tiny there, we've been told that Ash tree next to him is perhaps the biggest tree in town. I've been photographed with my arms wrapped around it, and even I look small next to it. What a history it must have & the stories it could tell!
I've enjoyed looking through so many photos these last few days, but I may be out of circulation for the rest of the week. Of course I could do something crazy like staying up until 3 AM again...
GORGEOUS tree.
Gorgeous cat! But, he knows it! ;-)
I'd like to see a pic of your with your arms wrapped around that tree. It's HUGE.
I also think you could probably write an "Adventures of Dill" storybook to welcome your new grandchild!

Louise, please settle a dispute between my brother and I. He said there is an area of Nova Scotia that is actually one half hour ahead of Eastern Time. Not an hour...one half hour. Is that true?
Newfoundland Standard time is 30 minutes ahead of Atlantic Standard Time (in effect in the Maritime provinces) and 1.5 hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time (in effect in New York and Toronto).
Dill is so adorable, as always! :-) Tao does that sometimes - he comes with me for a walk, and he jumps around chasing bugs or just rolls on the ground waiting for me to scratch his neck! ;-) A house is not a home without a lovely kitty waiting for you! ;-) 3 AM?? Louise, you must be in need of lots of sleep! Your summer has been so busy, with friedns and visits, and so many comments and photos on 365! I think we all share the same addiction - just one more picture, one more sweet note, one more glimpse at the popular page... and just when you think you got all caught up, there's a new upload! I am planning to call it a night soon, but we'll see how it will all turn out... Sweet dreams, dear firiend! i hope you get your beauty sleep tonight! :-)
I love Dill's spot of white in this lush pastoral scene. We used to have a cat who thought he was a dog and went on walks in the neighborhood with us. He had his limits. When we reached his predetermined boundary he would stop, like Dill, and wait for us there til we returned. Aren't they funny?
This is a great shot! I agree that tree must have many stories to share, if only it could! There are probably few things better than having a precious kitty to wait for you to come home. My kitties are all strictly indoor cats, but they will do similar by sitting in the window watching or be waiting right at the door to greet me when I return home...too cute!
I dread knowing there'll be a day he's waiting there and the guys have to come to retrieve him because we'll have gone... breaks my heart... He really is a constant companion and a faithful friend...
Yep, he's definitely going to miss you when you leave ... Friends of mine (summer residents) have an adopted cat (from their neighborhood) that disappeared the day they left. Showed up 10 miles away - at the beach where they kite surf! Isn't that amazing?!!? The good news is that Dill has another family that loves him to pieces ...
so amazing how loyal he is when he isn't even yours... guess that says a lot about what kind of people you are. what a compliment kitty boy gives you! and thanks so much for your lovely sentiments last comment. blessings...
oh wow, what a precious cat! and I absolutely adore his name! reminds me of Dill pickles! and I love pickles! :p (sorry for the tangent)
I find that really awesome about your tree! It certainly does look so huge! How lucky are you to have it in your yard! :p
Awesome shot! :D
Your place looks and sounds lovely, as does the king of the manor. I was pretty happy with the name of my falls. I think it was a nice cross between the early French and Indian names common in our area.
Wow what a tree...the Keebler elves could set up shop in there...lol. Dill is one special little cat. I'm always amazed at how smart these little animals are.
That is one big tree! We recently cut a young ash down from our backyard on the advice of our gardeners. It was only 8 years old and towered over our house and shaded us along with our neighbors. Obviously the previous owners didn't realize this as they planted the tree very close to the fence line. Oh well, live and learn. BTW, after seeing this picture I've decided that if I was a cat I wouldn't want to be white. Talk about being easy prey! Dill stands out like a sore thumb!
Awww, how wonderful that he waits for you. More like a puppy dog than a kitty. Very sweet!
What a fabulous old tree! We have some around here that are huge. A few years ago one of them was lost in a storm and it was a real shame.
I have a habit of being up till all hours and then getting up so early. I rarely get more than 4 hours. Too much to do and not enough time in the day. I wouldn't sleep if my body didn't make me LOL.
I think cats may have a special sense that allows them to mimic some of the characteristics of a more loving and faithful animal. They can tell when you're approaching, and with just enough time to leisurely saunter to a spot, they sit looking like they've been there pining away the hours waiting for you. Except for Dill, of course. Dill found a spot that suited his fancy and believes you searched him out so you can lavish him with food and attention like the good and faithful servants you are.
Gorgeous cat! But, he knows it! ;-)
