I hadn't originally expected to post more than one photo of Mica, the horse, but she's becoming a fixture on our morning walks! Several weeks ago we met the owner of the farm and asked about bringing a treat for Mica. A week later we struck up a conversation when walking by and introduced ourselves, learning her name is Martha (with a well-known last name in this community). Today we set out on our walk at 10:30, and, passing by the barn, I called out to her as she worked nearby. She came over, and we visited in the road for at least a half hour. Her dog, Echo, came to greet us, and suddenly there was a whinny... Mica was watching us from across the way, (and there's my photo as she caught our attention!) We finished chatting and continued our walk, but on returning, Martha was waiting for us & wanted to introduce us to her husband. In short, we chatted until 1 in the afternoon! She took us to her greenhouse and sent us home with an armload of fresh vegetables before we said our good-byes and went to feed the ever-patient horse. I know that's sort of a rambling note, but it was such fun to make new friends.
You're the nicest circle of friends anyone could hope to meet! Your messages were too special not to thank each of you, so I'll be around shortly.
Have a terrific weekend and don't forget your camera!
Love the casualness of this photo. A group of people enjoying each others company and then all looking at the newest member to join the group,,,namely the horse. (excluding the dog who obviously just couldn't be bothered to look haha)
You have questioned the attention that you get but I can answer it simply: Good people like to surround themselves with good people. And as far as good people go, you are a shining example. =) I so can't wait to meet you in person finally!
What a fun story. The picture is wonderful and I like how the horse, which is the cause of the gathering, is still the center of attention. Very lovely photo.
What a nice picture! I love how Mica makes sure she´s not forgotten! My horses do the same whenever I stop to chat with the stable owner, they also make a very specific noise, like saying HEY! You´re here to bring us a treat, not to do other things! (it sounds a bit like huh huh huh, using their nostrils and all)
oops, I hit the wrong button! I wasn't done yet.
The dog is so funny, looking the other way. He (or she,Echo could be either I guess) is with the people, so why make a fuss, whatever that horse does! ;-)
I think it's great how you're having such a good time, you really know how to enjoy yourself! And great to make so many friends !
Looks like a great area to walk Louise, anbd it is so nice to have great neighbors as well. They sound great. It's funny how Mica didn't want to be left out of the casual chatter. That is so neat.
love this--i want in on that walk! :) is there anything better than whiling away the day just chatting with people you enjoy?! great capture of mica not wanting to be left out, with your 'parade'!
Every photo you post of this community makes me long to be there. It's so beautiful, and seems to be made up of wonderful people. I'm sure there must be some real stinkers around, but I think even they would be nice to you--I can't see how anyone could fail to be! :)
Re your comment on my page--I'm hoping to get caught up this weekend. Thanks for checking in on me; this has been one heck of a year for challenges!
How nice "action" shot. When I see Ken and David and Billy and you in your photos I feel like I see friends though we never met. Hello to all my friends in Canada:)
I love Echo's ho-hum attitude!
Louise, you continue to channel the ghost of Will Rogers! Going out at 10:30 and not returning til 1:30 because you were visiting friends. What a glorious life you have.
Louise, I really hope I am blessed with a life like yours! You are such a gentle and generous person. You make friends easily--your project really reflects a life well-lived! I would love to have a group of friends to walk with and brunch with and a wonderful husband who obviously adores you and shares your interests! (Can you adopt me?) All kidding aside, the fact that Mica comes to greet you is evidence enough that you have been blessed with the ability to touch the soul of a horse, and (for me) there is nothing better than that!
I liked your idea of Flat Allie. And with 6 of me I could send myself here, there and everywhere. I'll just hold onto those paper dolls until someone puts in a request!
Thanks for your comments Louise. I could have sworn I was already following you :) I thought I was already following Slava too, but just added her tonight as well...weird!
