Forgive me my lapse in etiquette. I have the loveliest pile of birthday mail on my desk, and have yet to sort through and reply to it all. I suspect you know I've been working on it, but when the call came in to go for a sail this afternoon, how could I turn it down? This isn't a set-up picture...I really do sail the boat for extended periods, and I love how relaxing it is. Ken and Alan did a little fishing, but the mackerel population is unscathed. Happily, I was delighted to see several seals over the course of the afternoon! How could I not be out enjoying a summer day like this...it's not going to last forever! I hope you're making the most of the late-summer days, too! (And you, Jodie, Joji, Dora, Brenda, Kirsti, Luster, Veronica, Eleanor...look what you have to look forward to soon!)
I have to share one other thing I discovered tonight! Every single one of you was so kind & didn't chide my photograph with the reflection...you even said such nice things about it! But when I took a picture of the rising moon tonight the same thing happened! My brilliant husband suggested it might be the filter causing the reflection, and darned if he wasn't right! He looked it up on the Internet & it's called "ghosting"! Well, learn something new every day! We figured that out just in time to remove the filter and get a nice picture of the moon shining through the trees...
wheeee!! first comment. haha. i just signed back in after uploading earlier this evening. still haven't caught up with my pictures and comments but i still have time til i go to bed tonight and probably an couple of hours tomorrow. did you get great gifts for your bday?
No shame at all!! I am so happy you are enjoying your weekend, lovely sailing lady!!! ;-) The replies to the birthday wishes can wait - the important thing is that you got them in time! Thank you for sharing the filter info - it's always good to know! ;-)
what a beautiful day! sounds just lovely--we have to take those moments when they come! (:
and just in case you didn't see my general message on my photo for today, let me tell you personally thank you for your sweet words of encouragement. your comments bless me daily, but were especially comforting yesterday. so thank you, sweet friend!
What a wonderful way to spend the summer, and a gorgeous portrait of you, looking serene! I'm so sorry that I managed to miss your birthday, so belated happy birthday season to you, Ken, Billy & Dill! Carry on living those last precious summer days to the full!
What a great picture of a great time! I'm glad you had fun :) I've only ever been on a boat once and as fun as it was at first, it did scare me a little. You look like you're in your element though! Also, thank you for your sweet comment; really brought a smile to my face! Haha, I guess my secret is out ;) and yes, I annihilated those s'mores!
you look very relaxed there at the tiller Louise, I would love to be able to go sailing in the summer sun, I don't think I've sailed for 12-15 years now, I wasn't any good but I did enjoy it.
Your right to make the most of it why not, have a great day
I must apologize for being late with my birthday wish. I haven't checked many of who i follow lately so missed it totally. Hope you had a great day. This pic is great. You do look totally in control but I hope that beer isn't yours. Sailing under the influence. Tsk. tsk. :-)
I sure hope you enjoyed your day on the Atlantic Louise, it sure was a nice one... heading to the beach again today... got to get in the last few nice ones!
You look so relaxed and beautiful! Nice shot. I used Photoshop Elements to do my texture. I added it as a layer on top of my photo, changed it to screen, and lowered the opacity until I liked it. I found the texture for free at DeviantArt.com.
by the way, i love that sarong skirt of yours. i used to wear them way back in Malaysia....perhaps i should order some from home to wear in the summer here!!!
sounds like a very relaxing afternoon! i have the complete opposite today, an afternoon of cleaning before house inspection... rah! seals are definitely one of the best animals. impressive navigational skills!
You look greaaat!
This sounds very relaxing, and so much fun ;) Lucky you!
How about , I send myself to you in the mailbox, and you'd take me with you :-D?!
You definitely made the right choice. In this casebetter to be The Grasshopper than the Ant. Winter will come soon enough and you'll have your memories to keep you warm.
P.S. Flat Allie is all packaged and awaiting a trip to the post office in the morning . We are both very excited!
Well I think I'd much rather be out on that boat than taking care of other things! Looks like a fabulous day there! The weather was awesome here compared to the heat and humidity we've been having lately. 79 today and a nice breeze. It was lovely!
I thought maybe you had some kind of double exposure thing going on, but whatever the case, the photo was still wonderful!
I hope you have a great time and great weather for the rest of your time there!
thank you for all of your kind comments. i'm so glad your birthday went well. ironically, i just had my son write his birthday thank you notes this evening. i was really proud of him because he didn't complain once. pretty amazing for a nine year old boy! he must want something.
glad to know there are other big orange volunteers out there. even more glad to know you root for the bulldogs because if you had said the tide, we just might have us a failure to communicate. lol.
I love this shot of you at the helm! It takes a lot of guts to take the helm, and it's still not something I'm very good at (I really do know what I'm doing, it's just that I don't always have the most confidence in my abilities). Where we sail, the winds are very unpredictable, and I usually am happier to crew for my husband than to be the helmsman.
Wow, how wonderful is been your summer! I like you smile and it's seem that your are dealing well as 'helmswoman'. Enjoy the rest of your summer!!
Yes, I can't wait for our summer down here.
Thanks to come and comment my 'umbrella' post. I told to my son and he send a 'thank you!'.

Love the relaxed sailing shot - that's got to be the better choice!
