Say It Isn't So! by Weezilou

Say It Isn't So!

Today easily qualified as one of the hottest days we've had this summer (33C/92F). Personally, I love the heat, and summer is my favorite time of year. How jarring then it was to drive out of the neighborhood this morning and encounter this reminder that change is in the air... We're only sorry that we'll miss *all* the fall color this year, but today seemed like the opening salvo!

Thanks to all your thoughtful comments, I feel as though so many of you have been visiting here in Lunenburg with me this summer. I'm going to miss photographing our friends, Dill, Mica, and this beautiful town's scenery, but we still have travels and a new grandbaby ahead. With a lot of photo slots left on my calendar... I wonder what it's going to look like by the end of the year!

Are you all thinking about your calendars in the same way, too?
Fall color is my favorite reason to love the change of seasons. Beautiful capture.
August 31st, 2010
Aren't you headed to Europe in November?

And, actually, I think today is my our "official" 2/3 point! Isn't that amazing?

I've noticed a few yellow-leafed branches here, as well ...
August 31st, 2010
I made it first ... HA!
August 31st, 2010
I love that sight! Can't wait for fall! And I will miss your summer stories and photos, especially of Dill. :( But I can't wait to see what the rest of the year brings for you!
August 31st, 2010
No, no not yet! Of course in Florida there's only summer!
August 31st, 2010
Yes! I love fall. I'm down in Massachusetts and I've noticed a bit of color in the trees this last week. Seems early this year.
August 31st, 2010
sigh, i have seen some of that here as well. (no that was not hdr in my photo....just starting to figure some things out.)
August 31st, 2010
nope, after they left me alone to get dressed, I realized that I hat the *perfect* opportunity! LOL! I think the assistant was wondering what took me so long ...
August 31st, 2010
I am NOT ready for fall...even with the beautiful colors...no...I want summer to stay longer....
August 31st, 2010
Beautiful colors, Louise! Every season has its own charm, and the same goes for every place! You definitely have an exciting fall ahead of you! We are expecting another baby nephew at the end of September - his mommy can't wait! ;-) I look back at my calendar every now and then and i am amazed by the diversity of my photos! I've learned so much, I've met so many wonderful people, and I am having tons of fun along the way! :-) No matter where we are, 365 always connects us! ;-)
August 31st, 2010
i really am enjoying your photos. and yes i have been thinking the changing seasons to come and how our calendars will look by the end. Summer is my favorite too, aside from the blazing heat wave we had. And thank you so much for your comments. :)
August 31st, 2010
Now that's a gorgeous shot! The people and scenery will change, but the stories will continue...I look forward to seeing those new stories. I love fall too - apple cider, falling leaves, pumpkins, cooler nights. The journey continues!
August 31st, 2010
oh, i love fall! beautiful shot of the change coming! but all change is a tad bittersweet, isn't it?! i will miss your lunenburg shots most definitely, but i can't wait to see your photos from your trip to europe! and of course--ashley's baby!! so exciting!!
louise, i just want to thank you not only for your friendship to me, but that wonderful message you left my son. he couldn't wipe the smile from his face tonight! he was so excited to get his own project started, and he was THRILLED to get a few comments already! it was so very thoughtful of you.
August 31st, 2010
It really is turning to fall...even it is still hot =-( no, no, no. I need a few more weeks please.
August 31st, 2010
I've been on only 2 months - but I have LOVED all your photos and especially the accompanying stories of your time in Lunenberg.
August 31st, 2010
The town must look incredible dressed in fall colors! Despite the weather, the trees know it's time to start the process.
August 31st, 2010
Seattle is beautiful in the fall and I am looking forward to the changing seasons. It looks like it is going to be beautiful in Lunenburg. Good that you will get to see some of it before you leave.
August 31st, 2010
Fall is on it's way here too, the evenings are definitely cooler (apart from last night when I thought I was cooking!)
August 31st, 2010
I do love autumn though...
August 31st, 2010
Louise, its been a pleasure getting to know you and yours through this wonderful adventure, and I have thoroughly enjoyed following your little trips around the area highlighted with some wonderful photos. From the souind of it you're headed for Europe. I hope you have safe travels and a most enjoyable time, especially with the new Grandbaby on its way. Looking forward to hearing about it all.
August 31st, 2010
Oh please say it isn't so, as I do so love the warm summer months but fall sure is in the air..
August 31st, 2010
I too am thinking of my calender, but I was also thinking that I hope you continue to keep on keeping on so we can visit Lunenburg again next summer!
August 31st, 2010
So pretty!
August 31st, 2010
Yes, looking back is amazing to see where we've all been and what we've done... and the anticipation of many more and different experiences each day! 365 gives a tag for everything that happens. Love your photograph above. It was only 6 deg C when we went for our walk this morning - Autumn is in the air. Now at 8.00 am it has risen to 8 degrees! Hopefully we'll be in double figures by lunch time.
August 31st, 2010
It's always such a poignant time of year with summer ending but new beginnings around the corner - I recognise that feeling of looking back and forward at the same time. I have loved following your Lunenberg summer - and this picture with the white church and autumn leaves is so lovely - it captures that feeling perfectly
August 31st, 2010
Yes, the change is definitely in the air the hasn't got the strength as it used to have a month ago. And I will miss Dill. Couldn't you convince his owner to start a 365 project? It would be interesting to see Lunenburg in winter too.
August 31st, 2010
The leaves in the trees are beautiful. I also love the window! Summer is coming to an end and fall is begining....that's right, you captures that perfectly in this photo!
August 31st, 2010
Beautiful shot! (and yes, it seems time passes much too quickly these days...!)
August 31st, 2010
What a lovely shot! Autumn is starting in your part of the world & Spring is starting in our part of the world.
Yes! I do think of my calendar like you do - I look back & see what has gone on so far - also how far our photography has come !!
August 31st, 2010
What beautiful colors!!! Out here we had amazing amounds of rain the past week, also temperatures dropped to about 16 C, so it felt a bit like fall already...It seems to be a little better this week, I was hoping to catch some more sun before diving into fall and after that winter....Not ready for it!!! Like you, I love the heat and the sun, I could live in a place where it's always summer!!!
I do look at my calendar every now and then and love to see how many pictures there are on it..
August 31st, 2010
so pretty!! Our leaves aren't turning yet. But boy was it HOT today!! I think I am ready for autumn!
August 31st, 2010
I don think in terms of my calendar and what my photos will look like in the coming weeks. With fall colors beginning to appear in the northeast, we are not far behind. Cooler means new colors and I can wear my wool stuff. Looking forward to it. This is a lovely picture.
August 31st, 2010
Hi Louise! Thanks for your comment on my embroidery photo.
I have had my machine for about 4 years & bought it to be able to o monograms on towels etc. which I have done
I sometimes have problems with the thickness of the towels I sew on.
Janome does not support the software of this machine anymore, and I am disappointed with this, but all in all I enjoy the challenge & it is very satisfying.
I had a serious hand operation about 2 years ago have only just got into it again.
I also like quilting :D but don't make the time for it!
August 31st, 2010
I can't believe it's time for you to go already. It's beena joy to see somewhere that I'd never hear of through your eyes. You are a travel agent's dream for your area! Still onwards and upwards as they say and so much to look forward to. I love your picture...it says it all...sunshine, leaves tuning and white painted boards...gorgeous.
August 31st, 2010
Love the picture. I personally hate the heat and humidity so Fall is my favorite season. Unfortunately what comes after isn't so much. I hear "Earl" may make landfall in Nova Scotia this weekend so be careful!!
August 31st, 2010
An awesome shot, Louise. Love it.
August 31st, 2010
love those colors even thought I hate what they represent, the end of summer! :/
August 31st, 2010
Snap our photos have a common theme today looks like we have both noticed a change in the air .... Just wish we had some of your hot weather (for a little while at least ..lol..)
August 31st, 2010
We have a few trees here in my area that are starting to change too. And it's in the 90's today so it seems a bit odd. I sure will miss your photos from this area, but I also can't wait to see photos from your home town. You seem to make every shot very interesting and we all can't wait to share it with you.

Thank you so much for always having a kind word to say. You are always so thoughtful and kind. Hopefully my med situation will work out this week and if not, I'll be trying something that they will pay for. I try to be grateful for every day I have here on earth!
August 31st, 2010
Thanks for that, Louise!! I went and followed Della.

I've been living by that creed for quite a few years now. Diagnosed when my son was 5 months old and wasn't sure I'd still be around now, or able to function at all if I was. My hands were locked for about 3 years and that was awful. Modern medicine is a GREAT thing but it's a shame that they can take away our access to it on a whim and one person's say so.
August 31st, 2010
Great picture. I alway like this time of year when the leaves start to change and one starts to miss summer but then is excited for fall.
August 31st, 2010
Our trees are all changing slowly too but we've been having a scorcher of a week! Every time I drive by something in town, I make a mental note that I must capture that scene to share with the 365ers out there that will never be able to see my little Vermont town. I look forward to seeing where my journey is going to take me.
August 31st, 2010
A really love photo ... the seasons are changing here too as we head into autumn. It's much cooler in the evenings and getting dark so much earlier again!
August 31st, 2010
I think you would actually melt if you were to come visit - this month has seen temperatures exceeding 45 degrees Celcius! This photo is lovely - I really like the flowers hiding a bit of the window. And thank you for your sweet comments :)
August 31st, 2010
nice shot.
August 31st, 2010
Beautiful autumn colors. The tree against the white is a lovely combination.

I baked the cake on Sunday...:) It's almost gone....sooooo goooood:) Thanks so much for the recipe Louise.
August 31st, 2010
Of course! Fall is my favorite season, though it's still a bit hot here (high of 92 today). I'm looking forward to the changing colors and cooler temps :)
Pretty photo you have here, Louise. :)
August 31st, 2010
Thanks for your comments re: My Hibiscus story. I usually save the stories for my blog...but this one just had to be told here! Hehehe!
August 31st, 2010
So, first off, this photo is my kind of shot! I LOVE the window, the colors, the "old" look of the wood. The tree is definately a sign of things to come, but the colors are just so darn pretty.
K, next, I am a smidgen shy-ish to say this, but seeing this picture and reading your caption, I got a little lump in my throat and that burning feeling behind my eyes. I'm really happy to have seen your beautiful photos of your summer area, and am very excited for you to partake on your new adventures, but I do believe I'm going to miss Dill...a lot.... I shared my "...Mockingbird" story with you before...and with fall coming, I'm itching to read it yet again. Knowing you have your own Dill and thinking of my Scout...sniff sniff...
K, big girl panties on.... I wish you well on your fall adventures to come and can't wait to see photos of your precious grandchild! :D
August 31st, 2010
Beautiful picture of this pretty white church the shades of the leaves are set off so well.I think we are all looking forward to seeing a picture of you holding your grandchild
August 31st, 2010
What an awesome visual of the seasons beginning to change! The white church is the perfect complement to the colorful tree. Every 365er has a different story to tell and I enjoy looking thru other people's lenses. I am following people who only photograph themselves, and people who only photograph their pets, and people who only photograph landscapes, and people who document their days like a photodiary, and others who are all across the board on what they choose to photograph. What an amazing site this is!!!! Love your project!!!
August 31st, 2010
Nice those colouring leaves against the bright white!
August 31st, 2010
Autumn is a beautiful season for capturing such splendid contrasting colours. Dont say goodbye- rather til we meet again
August 31st, 2010
I like summer the best too!! great picture :) I'm thinking of making a book of my year....

thank you for your kind words and support on my pictures--you're awesome! :)
August 31st, 2010
i love the colors of fall :)
i can't wait to see what your new adventures will bring! :)
August 31st, 2010
I absolutely love the colours on this tree, they're so pretty :)

That sounds like such a great art project! I think I read a book where someone did something similar once... It'd be so fun to do!!! I might have to try it some day :)
August 31st, 2010
Nice capture. We don't see much fall foliage in SoCal. I miss it.
August 31st, 2010
Wow what a beautiful picture! I love the autumn colours! But I don't like the shortening of the daylight hours. Like Gail said the first signs of autumn are here in London too, cooler windier & darker nights & changing in colours. Are you visiting London when you come to Europe?
August 31st, 2010
the leaves on that tree are very colorful. even though green is my favorite color i still like how the leaves are turning orange. thanks for leaving me a nice note on my first picture.
August 31st, 2010
There's a change in the air here, but I think that it's finally going to reach regular summer temperatures. We've been enjoying the most moderate summer in recent memory. Pretty fall colors in this shot.
September 1st, 2010
More signs of fall, I love it! And thank you for the comment, it's appreciated :)
September 1st, 2010
Yes we definitely have four seasons here. Love it or hate it! Such a beautiful capture :)
September 1st, 2010
Love this shot!

I cannot wait for fall colors. I am sad that you will miss it in NS, but I will post plenty from the midwest, hopefully it will make it feel less like you missed it.
September 1st, 2010
what a beautiful photo! i love that you caught a beautiful window and the beautiful changing leaves....just a lovely shot
September 1st, 2010
Beautiful picture....to show the green and changing colors. Yes, I do think of my calendar the same way. I'm wondering what is in store for me each day....and in the winter months. I can't wait to see where your calendar takes you....I've enjoyed all of your history lessons and wonderful adventures in a place that I've never seen....until now.
September 1st, 2010
Great photo! This is beautiful
September 1st, 2010
I have really enjoyed reading all the comments on today's posting. What a great community comparing their seasons and worldviews. Every day I further my education on 365.
September 1st, 2010
hi louise... nice photo ., and i hope your havin a nice HOT summer... =) and thanks for your comment yesterday...i appreciate it... =)
September 1st, 2010
About the use of the mixer; I know it's late but I'm still awake and in possession of all my faculties so I can tell you unequivocally, "No!"
September 1st, 2010
i love this shot...the composition of it is lovely..so sad that the trees are changing for fall already.... isn't it fun to look back through our old calendars. makes me smile because i'm literally able to see my baby growing up and my evolution as a mommy and a photographer... now i just need something a little bit more high-tech than my camera phone that i shoot most of my shots with... (though it does the job most days)...

your last message made me smile...it IS wonderful how we all relate on this site.... it's very encouraging for me, being a stay at home mom. i don't have many mommy friends (or friends in general) because i choose to focus most of my time on my family. it saddens me at times, but then i remember how blessed i am to have the ties to people i do (both near and far)!
September 1st, 2010
That tree is gorgeous, as is the window. You did a fabulous job on the composition. As for the change of season... I couldn't be happier!
I absolutely love the summer, but I completely adore the fall! For some reason, as I've gotten older I'm seeming to look forward to the changing seasons. Everything's reminding me of fall now and I can't seem to wait for it to finally arrive!
September 1st, 2010
Wow, I can't believe it's that time already! Gorgeous shot... I love the colors of the leaves against the church. Still makes me sad to think of summer coming to an end, though...
September 1st, 2010
Oh, my....I've been seeing some of this, too, and can hardly believe my eyes! I know that your time is coming to end there soon, but as sad as it must make you...I'm sure that you're looking forward to returning to your sunny clime, your CA friends and your other kitty. I look forward to seeing you here in the Windy City soon, too. :-)
September 1st, 2010
Love the windows. I, myself, can't WAIT for fall :)
September 2nd, 2010
We have been spotting those for a while now too. They make such gorgeous photos though.
September 2nd, 2010
Oh, would you look at that? They're leaves, not flowers! I'm wearing the glasses right now, but I wasn't the other day. I don't really feel like they improve my sight that much so I haven't worn them much and when I do, I fall over. But thank you for your encouragement! Oh, and you're not a whiner at all - 32 is definately hot too. That's what I'm used to from growing up in South Africa, but here, we get maybe 90% humidity which is for sure what makes it as horrible as it is! Supposedly this upcoming winter is going to be very cold too, as the summer has been really hot. I'm welcoming it though :)
September 2nd, 2010
This is a gorgeous photo Louise.
September 2nd, 2010
I love the colors of the leaves against that white church with the stained glass window. So beautiful. I want to visit your town!
September 2nd, 2010
This is such a wonderful capture of the beauty of nature around you! I love it Louise!
September 2nd, 2010
I would have to say that Fall is my favorite time of year. I'm not much on the heat. After just reading what you wrote, about feeling as if we had all visited you in Lunenburg...it really does feel like I've been there before. With all your wonderful photos...it has now become a very familiar place.
September 2nd, 2010
I can never seem to decide if I like summer or fall more. Really doesn't each season have it's own certain charm? Beautiful picture - I was just noticing a few changing leaves in our town also.
September 2nd, 2010
I think personally fall is my favourite time of year, mostly because it's not as hot as summer here in florida, and makes for more desirable weather for being outside. :)
Lovely photo! I love the slightly coloured leaves, shows that fall is on it's way! and I love the design on the window! such a fabulous capture! :D
September 3rd, 2010
Ohh Louise I love the fall colours in this shot! I also think about what my calendar is gonna look like towards the end of the year, but I'm actually more excited for next year - as I know I'll be travelling again then and that always makes for great photos :)
