Having said I love hot weather on a summer day, I'm really getting what I wished for! It was sweltering today without as much as a breeze, so I made a blueberry coffee cake, packed up some soft drinks and towels and our morning walking group headed to the beach. The tide was in and the water was incredibly warm. By Nova Scotia standards, the beach was "crowded". Billy said this is the first time in 12 years here that the water at this beach has been warm enough for a comfortable swim.
Haven't been home enough to watch the weather news, and wonder if this warm water will draw the hurricane north. California friends who planned to drive up the east coast & arrive Sunday are now going to push to get here Friday ahead of the storm. If the weather turns bad, it makes it difficult to entertain. I envision us all hanging out in the living room by candlelight!
But that's another day. Meanwhile we'll take advantage of the weather and head back to the beach again tomorrow.
gorgeous shot, louise!! what kind of lens are you using here? is this a wide-angle?
i'm hoping with you that the weather stays away!! i will be watching the news and thinking of you, praying you all are safe!!
i know i've already said it, but it means so much to me that you've taken the time to stop in and comment on my son's photos. you are a precious friend!
mmmmmm when the weather gets hot, make cake!! love it! :) that should go on a fortune cookie saying or something... hehehe
I adore reading about your morning walks. they always inspire me to wake up and go for a stroll. such a wonderful way to start the day. Love the shot of the rolling waves along the beach. I'm thinking about all of you on the East Coast and hoping everyone will be ok!!!
Gorgeous shot of the beach...the water looks inviting! Blueberry coffee cake and a cappuccino - sounds delicious! Hope the weather moves far away from the coast and that all on the East Coast are safe! Thanks for your comments! I'm loving 365!
great shot! love how the roll of those waves goes right up the center of the shot. i can almost hear them crashing! can't wait until it's a bit cooler and we can open our windows at night. hearing the leaves moving can almost sound like waves at times...lulls me right to sleep....
had to stop by for another look....such a lovely coastline..looks like you were at least at knee level in the water to get this shot!...What was the water temp?
Beautiful shot :) I love ocean photos too, as you may have noitced, haha. It's nice that you can actually swim in it; embrace the warmth while you still can. I hope it doesn't get too horrible, but I think you'll still have a good time!
Makes me long for vacation time again!! It looks great there!! Love the rolling waves and the houses in the background! And what a great place to have a picnic!
Cool title Louise.
Any beach shot is a lovely shot in my biased, beach opinion ... and this one is very pretty. Hope the weather works and you have a great time with friends.
I find it very hard to believe that you will have a hard time entertaining with bad weather! Lovely beach shot. It is amazing all the different places you seem to be able to walk to.
What a lovely way to spend the day! Here, we're just into spring of course, so have hot days ahead to look forward to! Port Macquarie has a very mild climate though, so nothing TOOO scorching!
What a beautiful view! Your composition for this shot is spot on. Simply marvelous!
I do worry about all of those people in the path of the hurricane. All we can hope for is that it heads back out to sea before it hits. If it does hit land, I sure hope that everyone has time to take cover.
I hope today is not as hot for you! It has been in the 90's here the past few days and I don't have air conditioning. Days like that I'm happy to go to work where there is air LOL.
These waves could get much larger. Oh I hope Earl misses us all. Florida has gotten by this time with just a few light winds...which actually feels good. Just in case, maybe you should make enough blueberry coffee cake to last through the weekend! It would be a shame if your guests can't get out and explore your beautiful neighborhood and surroundings, but sitting by candlelight eating your blueberry coffee cake wouldn't be that tough to take! Stay safe!!
Nice shot. Being a red-head I have never enjoyed sitting at the beach. However I love going to the beach, especially after Labor Day and walking when it isn't so crowded. This is so nice and it looks like you already get some good waves here. Keeping my fingers crossed that none of us get too much from Earl's visit! And definitely stock up on that blueberry coffee cake. Nothing wrong with enjoying that by candlelight with your friends!
They have been sending out the alarms here in Mass all week. Hope it doesn't head your way - but then again a Hurricane party is a heck of a lot of fun. Make the most of it! :)
Yes Im so jealous too. What a gorgous beach and I love the way youve captured the waves rollin' in :) I hope things go OK there with you and the weather. Fingers crossed
We're kind of waiting on the hurricane--but I have my suspicions it's a lot of fuss over nothing, as usual for here! Beautiful waves in your photo, Louise.
Hope you got in for a swim. What beach is this? Too hot I don't feel like doing anything, in fact, felt 'unwell' enough not to go to the beach today! plus 41 in my office today, I don't think I can put together a proper sentence! lol
well, I now live on the west coast of florida, but I'm going back to the east coast this weekend, so I may be able to catch some waves at the beach this labour day! I hope that they beat the storm, and if not, sometimes just watching the rain from the inside can have a calming effect whilst chatting with friends by candle light, I've been through too many hurricanes to know how they work. I'm sure you all will make the most of your time together!
I must add, this is a fabulous photo! I love water photos and this is just so awesome! catching the waves where they crash, it's a great capture! :D
you are making my mouth water with that blueberry coffee cake and this photo of the ocean! i just wanna jump right in... jump out for a quick bite of cake... then jump right back in! :)
I 'm not usually a beach person but this really evokes a sensory response --the sound of the waves hitting the shore, sand between your toes, salty air! Great photo!

Good luck with the storm, too :)
