Mahone Bay by Weezilou

Mahone Bay

What a difference a day makes! The air was cooler, the sun shone, and it was a beautiful morning to have coffee on the back deck, listening to the starlings chirping in the trees. After a crazy, out-of-the-ordinary day yesterday, we went sightseeing, and out to lunch in Mahone Bay. This is the singularly defining image of the town and the view to the three churches on the waterfront (though I noticed a tree is beginning to obscure the third one on the right...) We shopped in town and I bought some Christmas presents...can't believe it's time to take that into consideration! This evening we had our friend & sailboat captain, Alan & his wife, Susan to dinner as John & Mary are boaters, too. The table conversation struck a perfect balance and Ken's cedar-plank grilled salmon (with a ginger & macadamia-nut crust) was a hit. We were thanked for how well the day turned out, but when you start a visit with a hurricane, there's no where to go but up!
Really pretty! CHRISTMAS PRESENTS?AHHHHHHHHHH!

Beautiful, peaceful scene!

Beautiful shot! Night turns to day and suddenly all's right with the world. Wouldn't it be great if that were true always! Glad you, your community and your friends are safe and that Earl left town!

beautiful shot Louise.. I love how you captured the clouds. Looks like a beautiful day :)

I really like this photo. The distant scene looks quite nice over the water. It all fits together perfectly Louise. I like the visual of the three churches, and in the foreground, you did a nice job composing it. I am glad to hear the weather improved so nicely. From the sound of it, the hurricane did not hang around long, kept moving along its path.

This is beautiful...it looks like a photo on a postcard!
September 6th, 2010
Sounds like you are all bouncing back to normal rather quickly! What a wonderful day.

Gorgeous photo too! I love the churches in the background. I bet they are just awesome close up.

The air cooled down here quite a bit in the last couple days. My kind of weather today. Mid-seventies and beautiful clouds in the sky.

Cedar planked salmon is my absolute favorite thing to eat!! One of my favorite restaurants near here has a honey-maple cedar planked and I just love it.

So glad to hear you all weathered the storm like pros!

The difference between your water shot yesterday and today is INCREDIBLE! Love the rocks and grass in the foreground.

Christmas?!!? OMG, I can't even GO there! LOL!

I'm glad the hurricane has left the area! That is one lovely view. I can definitely see why it's such a hit. Ooh, Christmas. Funny you mentioned it as my family and I drew our names today. It creeps up so fast.

September 6th, 2010
That actually looks like an "after storm" sort of sky. Just beautiful.
September 6th, 2010
Again a wonderful view and I am happy to hear that the hurricane didn't hit you to hard.
I think it's a wonderful idea to meet you in a coffee shop in December. There is some thing that I noticed when I read that you wanna travel from Lauterbrunnen to Zurich and Muri etc. Please don't underrate the distances in Switzerland. I know that it looks alluring when you see distances of 100 to 200 km on the map between the places that you are interested in. I know compared to USA it's nothing, but as I heard from friends who went on holiday in USA that the "driving culture" is totally different. Our expressway have two lanes and they are quit narrow compared with the pictures that I have on my mind of their american buddies and speed limit is higher (120 km/h, 80 mph is about 100 km/h). You could say driving 2 to 3 hours in Switzerland and you are as tired as if you drive 6 to 8 hours in the USA. But we have a excellent public transport system that brings you almost every where with good and punctual connections. Here is their website address http://www.sbb.ch/en/index.htm

September 6th, 2010
Ooops I made a mistake 55 mph is 89 km/h and 80 mph is 129 km/h.
September 6th, 2010
very nice :)
September 6th, 2010
Louise, this picture is sooooo beautiful. And I loved reading your description.

Well, that grabbed my attention! Great picture, Louise. I never got over to that side to take a picture - only from the water. This is beautiful! I miss it!
September 6th, 2010
The weather is usually lovely after a big storm has passed through. The air is scrubbed, the sun shines brighter and everything looks more vivid. Your picture is a perfect example.
September 6th, 2010
Jusst beautiful! Love the clouds.

Gorgeous, gorgeous view, Louise!
September 10th, 2010
Thank you, Louise :) You brought a smile to my face with this one. Whenever I'm feeling homesick, I daydream about the places I love so much back home. I saw this view for the first time while driving to Shelbourne with my best friend to try to get a sighting of Demi Moore while she was filming the Scarlett Letter. We never made it to Shelbourne, but I still hold that day of one of my favourite road trips.

Thanks again, sand sorry for the ramblings.
September 10th, 2010
Beautiful picture! Oh, Louise, please don't get me started on Christmas presents. I had forgotten it's just around the corner!! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!! ;) When are you heading back to CA? Can't be that long, summer will be over soon!
