City living... This afternoon Heather and I carried two of her cats down three flights of stairs and walked to the vets office a couple of blocks away. This is Hobbes, her 18-year-old kitty, born in our California home, who went to college with her in Arizona and now lives in Chicago. He's geriatric and arthritic, but loving, polydactyl and vocal and we hope he'll be around for awhile. We spent most of the day with Heather and I borrowed her P&S when we went to the vet. At this late hour I didn't have time to sort through the photos on my camera tonight. If I had, it might have been a paired picture of the many photos that hang, grouped, on both my girls' walls in their homes...we're all pretty well hooked on photography.
he looks resigned to the trip! (: and i LOVED calvin & hobbes!!
thank you so much for the birthday wishes the other day--i've been so busy and trying to catch up!!
Hobbes is quite handsome! I love his name! Wouldn't it be cool if our pets could talk...or maybe not...lol. I just had a vision of my boys telling me what I could do with my camera...lol.
hobbes looks thrilled to be at the v-e-t-s... we spell that word around our house ever since our youngest (kitty) has been put on anti-depressants. she went into quite a funk when i got prego with g. it seemed though that she would understand our spelling though too...so we've had to switch up our tactics a bit.... aw...cats...can't live with them, can't live without at least 2 of them!! haha.... ps.... dedicated my post to you and @skt today!!
Hobbes looks like he's been thru this before and he's resigned to it. Very cute shot. We had my folk's cat, Maria, who lived with us after they passed... we lost count of her age but it was definitely into the 20's. You can do it, too, Hobbes!
18 that is pretty impressive! thanks for you kind comment about my socks. I am pretty excited. I tried knitting a pair when I first learned to knit and wasn't very successful and thought I must not be a sock knitter. But as time goes by you see all this amazing sock yarn and sock patterns and I thought maybe I should try again. I am glad I did. You are so correct , fall and winter are wonderful for the sheer fact you stay warm and cozy while knitting and you get to wear amazing hats!! I pity those knitters who live in warm climates, but I bet they are all amazing lace knitters. :)
I loved Calvin & Hobbes! What a great name :) He looks as though he is ready to go through the motions of his vet visit and then get outta there. He's quite cute.
Trying to catch up with myself after the holidays..don't know how you do it Louise!! Looks like as usual you are full of life and enjoying your family and forth coming events. I don't know Hobbes name sake but he looks a sage old cat......hope it all went well.
Reminded me of Tilly when you wrote he was 18, if you remember we lost her earlier this year .. old cats are just so laid back I am sure he took the vets in his stride ..Long may Hobbies go on
Hobbes is such a handsome boy! I only wish my boys were this laid-back when it comes to going to the vet. Jones has learned to take it in stride somewhat (once he resigns himself to the idea that he's not getting out of it) since he's had so many vet appointments in his short three years. But Jack fights tooth and nail... we have to take the carrier apart to pry him out of there once we get into the exam room!
It's such a trial getting either of my kittehs into the box for a trip to the vet or groomer. Sofie usually will cry all the way. Biz, once in the box, is very calm and quiet and just waits it out. Hobbes is a good looking boy.
Hope Hobbes is fit & well & carries on singing, so great for all of you to enjoy photography & this project, you are a brilliant & creative family & it's wonderful to see you every day here!
Hobbes looks quite content probably happy that you and Heather were close by. Sounds like he's lived quite a full life, hope there is many more days to enjoy with him around.
Well, Hobbes has obviously had a very full life, traveled, gone to college, and been greatly loved and well-taken care of over the years. A wise-old kitty, to be sure (and a cutie).
It's nice to meet Hobbes. Is he named after Calvin and Hobbes? By chance? That was Chris's favorite comic. Hobbes seems to be a wonderful, supportive friend....!
What a beautiful kitty! Hello Hobbes! Wow, 18 years old, huh! As old as my son LOL. Unfortunately doggies don't live quite that long, I wish they did.
Re: grandma - I became a grandma in my early 40's. I thought I was way too young but my daughter was married and living on her own. Of course I wouldn't change it for anything now!
Ive not heard of Calvin and Hobbes. Youre kitty is such a sweety and looks interested but alert about being out of his safe zone of home. Hope all is well with Hobbes and 18 is a good age. Our kitty Muchka is 16 and shes outlived all of her children. The vet said she could still have a few more years on her clock as she has been fit and well. Shes had a cyst on her ear and its got bigger. I took her to the vet and she said she cant operate on her because of her age but it must be 'just' a cyst or she wouldnt have had it so long. Recently it has got bigger so it looks like another trip to the vet :(
What a great looking cat, esp for his age!!! I think over the years he's figured out there's no escaping from the crate, so he just endures it. A wise old fellow indeed! Hope he was all right, and the other one too!
The cat looks really evil to me, like he's plotting what he's going to do when you let him out of that box. :) Oh, I'm back by the way. I've been taking pictures still, so I'll be uploading three or four a day to catch up on my project.
My daughter has a 15 year old cat that we found as a stray kitten, was her buddy growing up, went off to college with her and now they live in NYC together. I take comfort in the fact that she has him with her like a little piece of home.
thank you so much for the birthday wishes the other day--i've been so busy and trying to catch up!!
We head to Parent's Weekend Oct. 8. I can't wait :o) Hannah LOVES U of A. She is having the time of her life.

Hobbes looks like he's living a good life & been well looked after :D
