As I Took His Photo, I Knew I'd Made a Connection...
Where Dill is "My Constant Companion" over the summers, and TJ is glued to my side back home, Tabby is a bit more independant...most of the time. I'll be here at my desk and he'll come sit next to me, "Merrow" and expect I'll stop what I'm doing to scratch his neck. Of course I do! (He's got a dog's funny trait of going through a scratching motion with his hind leg when I do that!) (OMG...as I write, here he is! He just showed up! *Really*!) ...I stopped and gave his neck a good scratching, then asked if he wanted to be brushed. He does a dandy job of hoisting his girth to the top of the pedestal scratching post and enjoys my focused attention... (How very cat-like of him!) As the saying goes, "Dogs have Masters. Cats have Staff".
And that's probably one paragraph more than anyone cares to read about "My Cat", but it's my way of asking forgiveness for giving you all the silent treatment yesterday. I loved all the comments and thank you for speaking to me!
Louise ~ this is such a cute shot of Tabby! I enjoyed your quote about cats having staff. Cute story about him coming up to you for a good neck scratching just as you were writing about him. Uncanny timing!
HA to cats having staff! so true!! Tabby is cute :) When we had all our other cats Muchka (our one remaining) was so independant and used to stick her nose up at everyone and only had fuss when she wanted it. Now she's the only cat her personality has completely changed and shes sooooo affectionate and wants fuss all the time!! I have booked a vets appointment for her, so thats where shes off to on Friday evening. Her growth is so much worse and Im really worried.
Well, you know I'm a cat person, so I love hearing about your cats. It's so cute that Tabby was in a lovey mood and came to visit while you were telling us about him. Even the most aloof ones need their staff to give them some love from time to time. ;-)
I second that as far as them having staff. They are so good at getting what they want. We no longer have a cat, but she was good at having us meet her needs. We had to put her down this past year because of a lingering illness, but the last few years were not good years for her. She had to surrender her domain as we invited our two Yorkies into her household. It was a bit unsettling for her. They left little time for her to roam free as she did before their arrival. Her time was at night when we slept, and the little terrors were in the bedroom with us. Tabby looks like a great cat, and he does look like he has things under control.
isn't he such a sweetie?!! this is a great picture--he's got such a gentle expression and i love that paw reaching out!
and re. your comment about the triathlon weather--the high was around 88, which is quite bearable if you're a spectator, but was still on the hot side for him! but 110 is just out of the question!! (:
So far behind on my comments...love this kitty! He definitely is in charge - has minions to do his work - I'm glad you made the cut! I don't think our dogs got that message - "Dogs have Masters..." They've always treated us as staff! Maybe we'll have to have a talk!
I didn't want to tell you....but I do miss Dill. Cute picture...and I'm so glad that the silent treatment is over. I just love reading your words....and finding out what you did during the day.
I love all of your kitty stories and never get tired of them. :) love his heart shaped nose - and I SO agree with you about cat's having staff. our miss kitty thinks she rules the roost.
I can not even begin to describe my anticipation with this recipe. I hope it turns out!!! I'm in the baking mooooood!! Love you Louise and thanks so much for going to all the trouble to try them out first.
O my goodness! You can get a good photo of a kitty!! That's tight. O my, I try OVER and OVER to get a shot of our cats and ............uh, it just doesn't work out. But I'm improving and hopefully someday I'll post a photo of the PERFECT kitty picture. :D
Looks like Tabby has been communicating with Dill on "how to train your human photographer". I thought it was dogs have masters, cats have owners and rabbits have staff. Guess it doesn't really matter because they all seem to have access to the same information on "How to train your human."
What a lovely picture! His heartshaped nose-spot comes out even better than on the other picture! They just always seem to want your attention and affection when you're doing something else, they're so funny that way!

And thanks for your comment :)
And you know Louise that we all love listening to you talk about anything at all! You always have such wonderful things to say!
