Some Things are Priceless

photo 424

Each summer when we arrive in Lunenburg, we purchase a car full of potted and hanging plants for outside the house. On the best summers, our timing is such that the wild lupines and iris are in abundance. We have a favourite secluded dirt road where we can cut all we need for bouquets in the living room, and it's fun to look back and you can't even tell anything is gone. Ken took this picture of me with enough to fill a couple of vases. It's the fragrance I wish everyone could experience...both sweet and peppery! These will last a week, leaving us time to do it once again before they fade from the fields and roadsides until next year.

How lucky to have such an abundance of beauty at your fingertips. Love the way the curves of the logo on your shirt are duplicated by the lupine stalks. I know that was your intent, right?

Well Louise, if I remember correctly, you do have the decorator's touch of elegance for your home. Your indoor photos always look beautiful.

GREAT to hear from you! Awh I miss Lunenburg! I was just thinking about you the other day!

I'm not done with 365, just so you know. I've just had a tough time finding time to post pics!

@Weezilou I'm really late getting back to you but my father was from Cape Breton - so I'm a Maritimer by blood. :) I haven't been back there in a long time. Hope to do a late summer / fall visit next year if I'm lucky!

@russianblue I love getting notes like this that connect me with other people! On the 15th I'm meeting (in Lunenburg) another 365er from Halifax who currently lives in Illinois. Please stay in touch if you come up this way!

@Weezilou For sure I will! My cousins purchased a summer home in Kingsburg Nova Scotia about 3 years ago and I've been meaning to visit. Right now we're trying to save up to build our own cottage (Ontario) so we're always putting off the trip out east. I need to win the lottery!

@russianblue Kingsburg is only about a 15 minute drive from us!

What a beautiful portrait of you with the flowers. I do remember trying to find some Lupins last year in Victoria after you posted a picture, I was able to find some yellow ones. :)

@Weezilou Very small world! If I make it out there, I'll make sure to drop you a line. :)
