..** @summerfield asked about the title and I give an explanation with links a ways down in the comments...
In the hope of creating something for a theme-challenge this week, I asked Ken to follow me into the attic with the tripod. I put on an old gown I'd bought at an antique market http://365project.org/Weezilou/365/2010-07-18
and climbed the ladder-steep stairs. As I reached the top, Ken admonished me not to fall...
...caught my toe, staggered many feet across the wood floor, and, unable to stop my ultimate fall, tripped on a box of who-knows-what, landing on my cheek, hand and thigh and knocking off my glasses! Challenge 1: Five+two Creepy...or as they described it, anything harrowing or horrifying! Ken had the camera (and tripod), unable to grab me, but I do wish he'd gotten a photo...
Ignoring the rising hemotoma on my hand, and brushing off the dirt (but for that box, it's an unused attic) I set out to capture Challenge 2: an HDR photo.
I post processed it for Challenge 3: MAD HATTERS PHOTO HISTORY, and for my effort, you can't even begin to see the "Props & Belly Flops" it took to get to this point!
But there you have it. And at my age, I think I should leave some of these challenges to the younger generation before I kill myself by *accident*!
....the things we do for photos!!!! Hope you don't feel the effects of the fall too badly - the day after is often worst! What a stunning image - and a huge fav for me!
@amandal@lynnilou@kerristephens@danette Thank you ladies! None the worse off this morning, so it was all worth it! And if not for "the story line", I'd just be taking snapshots, right?
Well done and an A+ for you for attempting what you did. The results are amazing and a big FAV from me. I hope your not too bruised but I must say the narrative and the photo are amazing.
@shepherdmanswife@gilbertwood@pyrrhula@cathrinemitch@kwiksilver It was never my planned intention to do a face plant! However, I've never been a sure-footed person, and I think Ken could see the writing on the wall (when I didn't)! Today, it's only my hand that visibly took a beating...I must have landed on it! For the fact that it wasn't worse, I'm really glad I did it...and it was fun to see the attic again...huge space with that window, but we so seldom go up there! @pyrrhula Terrible about your hand in the May accident! You have such delicate skills - like a surgeon! - you need to take good care of them! Best wishes with your next appointment!
well, that was scary. i hope you're totally okay now and it's only your pride that's left with the bruise. :-) see what i mean when you have a shot in your head? you just have to go and do it, and the props are just worth it most of the time! and a triple shot at that! i'm going to look through the challenges and see if we can come up with a fourth challenge to put this in so you can have a grand slam of a shot! i'm not going to fav it because you went through a dangerous fall, but because it is an excellent shot and concept!
@summerfield Oh Vicki (do I have the name right? I've seen others call you by name...) thank you for this bonding moment! Yes...it's true...I really had to do something up there! As an "actress" I'm a total airhead...I didn't even have a clear concept of what it was I was trying to portray! (So much for Strausberg...or something like that!) I'd tell Ken what I wanted and he'd frame it up...then have me come see if that was what I wanted... (If I got a remote control, who'd be there to help me up off the floor?,,,) Well, it was just fun... Two years ago I fell in almost exactly the same position on a cement sidewalk, hurrying to hug my daughter. That spill landed me in the hospital overnight and in need of new glasses. Old pine floors must be a lot softer... I'll live ;)
@Weezilou - just be careful you got no splinters buried in your skin. take it from me, sometimes i start with nothing, it's like a little bit of this and little bit of that and suddenly you have a cohesive shot! sometimes even if you have an idea of what you want, it just morphs into something else that's a lot better. it's vikki or victoria and you can call me anything you want. i've been called worse, you know. hahaha! cheers, darling.
@bill_fe Thanks, Bill @teiko I love the word you created! Thanks heaps! @gilbertwood@shepherdmanswife Thanks so much. They didn't take me out and shoot me at dawn, so I'll continue to take pictures... @pyrrhula I did get your original note. If I was crazy enough to plan on getting hurt for the end photo, it would be time to pack away the camera and ship me out! haha! At the end of the day, it makes for a good story and the pain was minimal (suprisingly!) @linah haha...over dinner I told Ken you'd given me a pity-fave...the funny part was that, as accidents go, it took "so long" before i finally went down, its oddly "interesting to look back on... @kwind Funny...I think Ken's first words were, "You didn't break your glasses, did you?!" This was not an insensitive question as, two years ago, my glasses looked like I'd run a course sander over them, and they were a mess of wire shapes... Yes, I would have preferred that not happened again! (And it didn't!) @chard There's something "important" about that...and a good excuse for not feeling like just an *ordinary* clutz! @kali66 haha! "same thing" I said to richard @chard just above!
Ouch! As bad as it was, I am glad it wasn't worse. I took a spill over a year year ago. I was walking into a fire station and with my bi-focals I misjudged a 1 to1.5 inch rise in the concrete floor inside the garage and caught my heel. I have a pretty fair sense of balance but wasn't able to regain it and landed on my side. Fortunately I didn't hit my head, but I had sore ribs for over a month. I like your ghostly widow.
Oh me, oh my, what a drama for you. So pleased you weren't hurt badly. Magic photo, really captures the mood perfectly. PS In Australia we call these structures 'Widow's Walks'. Hope you're feeling OK now. I'm strictly banned from climbing ladders!!
Oh my Louise, as I read this I ashamedly must admit that I caught myself chuckling a bit, but at the same time wincing as I imagined a fall like that in the attic, splinters and who knows what else. Do forgive me, but we do go to all extremes to capture a photographic idea that comes to mind. I hope the task did not produce long lasting aches and pains.
We do some pretty crazy things for a great photo. Glad your ok. This shot is amazing and a fav for me. And cool through all you tumbling you made it to the trending page. Hope that was all worth it. Your bruises will heal.
Maybe this one as a exception. A Fav. For the trouble, the capture and the processing .
@pyrrhula Terrible about your hand in the May accident! You have such delicate skills - like a surgeon! - you need to take good care of them! Best wishes with your next appointment!
Love the processing and staging.

This memorial attests to the number of ships and men lost through the years (and I mention the widow's watch in the commentary). http://365project.org/Weezilou/365/2014-09-23
The following has a Widow's walk. again atop the house, but with a railing for walking outside as well. http://365project.org/Weezilou/365/2010-05-30
Thanks for bringing that up! You can see what it is that I love about living in this historical town!
