Our grandsons are back from their visit with Oma & Opa and it was little Dylan who spotted Frosty first this morning; the kids get so excited to see her! Earlier then this photo, Ashton fed her, and she startled him when she grabbed is hand to steady herself. We expressed concern, but he popped back with, "I'm all right!" So what fun to see him go out on his own to find and feed her. After this moment, he announced, "She took the peanut and she had a smile on her face!"
(OK, I've become that annoying grandmother who tells you the cute things the kids say...and I pass around the pictures, too...)
@pyrrhula Love the comment, Ferry! I told Ken...we both got a chuckle out of that! Thanks...we're happy to have the boys back for a couple more days, and they're happy to have "a pet squirrel" and time in the pool...
@teiko Wish I could take credit for that one... well, maybe in a way... In the center of town we have "A mile square park" and Ken and I would go walking everyday. A few squirrels seemed friendly, so we began to carry peanuts and encourage them...we soon found takers. In time, we saw other people carrying treats, and fast forward, the squirrels in the park are VERY well-fed and come running up to everyone! Now, for the first time in the 40 years we've lived here, some squirrels are moving out into the surrounding neighborhoods, so little wonder one at least, would be of the entitled variety! We have one other we recognize as "not Frosty" because he's skittish, but she will always run up to us...even when we'd been away for 6 months! That's the part we found amazing!
@_catherine_ Interesting that you should pick up on that! Yes, they're in Pennsylvania...but they're German. I'd never heard that set of names in my childhood. And,, you've a good heart, Catherine, to treat me so nicely regarding my little grand-kid-dog-and-pony show!
I, for one, love the grandmother stories and photos, Louise. It's part of our job description. This is an adorable shot of Dylan and his furry little friend.
You are teaching your grandson how to love and befriend animals, and this is a gift he will always cherish!! BTW, both Frosty and your grandson are adorable, and his blond mop of hair only rivals Frosty's tail!! ;-))
