(Not!) Seeing Double! by Weezilou

(Not!) Seeing Double!

What an entertaining joy these two have been since we moved the feeders just outside the back door! "Mama" seems to have brought "Papa" around, and the two of them swoop and dive around the yard AND around us! When I go out, I tap the bottom of the feeder (which releases the air bubbles), click my tongue a few times, and she nearly always comes over. Both Ken and I are amazed! I just kept shooting photos of them, not knowing what I'd get, but I can clearly see the difference in the two! This area of the yard is always in the shade, so I may not get the brilliant coloration others have captured. Still, I know the water will remain fresh for 3-4 days until I give them another refill.

Nest update: I'm going to have Ken climb the ladder to check the nest for eggs or chicks. I don't see her sitting on it much.

Squirrel update: Twice I've seen a squirrel in the tree just outside the window, but I don't think it was Frosty. Hopefully she'll return when (literally!) the dust settles!

"Fred" update: Billy wrote today that he's been seeing Fred around the neighbourhood, so he's come through the worst of the winter. The prospects are good that I'll have "A Summer Cat" again in July...

The photos above were taken around 4:30 PM today.
These are fantastic! Beautiful and a colorful background too. I ordered a feeder very similar to this just a couple days ago, and now I am anxious for it to arrive :)

@fjmom I found this on line, too, but discovered Home Depot carries them. I had the red plastic one, but wasn't pleased that it "smelled musty" even after a good cleaning. Glass will be easy to clean well, and these little birds are so special, I want to make my offering as nice as I can. Thanks for liking them, too, Carol, and for the fave!

Thank you all so much for faving this photo and sending it to the PP...quite a delightful surprise! There will likely be more hummingbird photos on my horizon as Ken reported seeing an egg in the process of hatching in the nest when he peered in this morning! xo

Hey, these guys look familiar. I wonder......no, couldn't be. My mama didn't sit on the eggs to much, so maybe you have something there. Love the way you aligned the feeder in the shots.
