First, Happy Mother's Day to all of you & wishing you an especially nice one!
My plans for today were to be sipping Mimosas with Ken and our college friends + their two boys...down by the beach, sunny day...where we were on Easter.
Was having a wonderful time with my friends in Mexico, photographing horses on the beach, when I stepped off a ledge and I knew things had gone terribly wrong! In short, I fractured my ankle and body-slammed the deck...ugh! Mexican parimedics came, but it was decided to get me to a hospital in San Diego. Didn't mind the long wait in emergency, got x-rays, got pain meds ...
and then... at 4 AM, very inattentive nurses-assistant got me to get up and on crutches to move to a wheelchair. I couldn't do it, she didn't help, and I fell backward into a gurney and down to the floor! So now I'm really in the hospital for a back injury. When they released me on Sat. afternoon, Ken drove me back up to our neighborhood area & I'm in an assisted-living facility for the present.
I'm going to be ok... Ken's helping to look after me, our daughters sent me this beautiful bouquet, and I'm able to writ this myself. I'm getting all that rest I kept wishing I might have someday!
I know you'll understand that I don't have time to write back for awhile. Meanwhile, I going to help Ken improve his camera skills! He did an excellent job on this one...where would I be without him?! Love to you all... Louise/Weezi ♥
oh, louise, i am sorry to hear this. what an incompetent nurse that was. i could go there and slap her silly! :-) but look at you, you could still manage to give us your sweet smile. heal fast, my friend! ♥
Oh dear. So sorry to hear. You've made a wonderful photo and narrative and look at you still in grin mode. Rest up. Happy mother's day, even with it all. You are in my thoughts.
@summerfield@salza@kiwisnapper@darylo Thank you all! I actually feel happy that I can sit here with absolutely nothing else I can do and can write to you all! Looking at the bright side, I slowed my life a little! xo
Holy crap Louise! As if the broken ankle wasn't enough. So glad your Sherpa is with you. Just kidding Ken! Hope they're taking good care of you in the rehab facility. Darling photo! Feel better!
Is there nothing that can keepyou from this site, Woman!? Happy Mother's Day, such as it is, and warm healing thoughts and prayers for you. Fav for yur damn tenacity
Oh my goodness Louise what a calamity! The ankle was bad enough but how incompetent of the nurse and now you have a bad back! I hope you make a very quick recovery! This is s lovely shot of you - with your wonderful smile of course! Take good care of yourself - I know Ken will be looking after you! Big hug!
Before all the sorry`s I wanted to send you , First , I love and admire that you are able to smile at us after all those terrible accidents and all those trouble`s you `ve gone trough. It makes a lovely pic. after all. You smiling behind that great bouquet of lovely flowers makes it a Fav. pic. .
So sorry for this bad accident . hope they can help you the best and you will recover soon without to much pain and trouble. I`m sure Ken will be a great help. And take it all as he`s pamper you. I`ll send some small pray`s upstairs for you.
I go away for a few days and come back to discover you've fallen twice, been in the hospital, and are not in assisted living? Whew! You surely do know how to keep things interesting! Feel better. *hugs* Best to Ken, too!
Oh nooooo, Louise!!! Bless your heart...what a non-comedy of errors. Unbelievable!!!! I'm not the least bit surprised at your spunky, positive attitude regarding your unfortunate situation. That will go a long way in your recovery. Please know that I'm sending good thoughts your way. And I'll be keeping a close eye out for updates on your condition.
Your sidekick photographer did a pretty awesome job with this shot. You actually look pretty adorable with that vexed grin framed by those gorgeous Mother's Day/Get Well flowers...even if it's in a hospital bed.
Feel better soon, Soon, SOON!!! Hugs to you!
Oh my goodness Louise, wow I can't believe this happened to you. I'm glad you're going to be okay and are at least close to home. It's also so nice to see that little smile, helps us to know you'll be okay. We are praying for a speedy healing and recovery for you. We were in Calgary to see Michael's brother who is doing better and his signs of improvement are getting closer together. We told him of your supportive words for his recovery and he was thankful. With this downtime you can now plan your recovery party, which should include those Mimosa's you missed out on. 😊
@lifepause@kevin365 hehe...thought this was a good time to play the sympathy card! (My followers are awesome and have made me smile this evening! ♥ to you two minxes :)
Well Louise you know where I am coming from when I say, inexcusable demonstration of professionalism. Wow, what was the nurse thinking, well obviously they weren't. So sorry to hear about all this misfortune. And you are smiling of course. Hope you bounce back quickly. Good thoughts and prayers your way.
@digitalrn Aw Rick, thanks... I knew you'd fully understand when you saw this! The gal was a CNA... the only bad apple in the lot. To a one, everyone else I've encountered has been exemplary. I thought of you each time and RN came in to assist me, and often thought how it would be to see you standing there. We really come to know one another here, don't we? Thanks for coming by and thanks fr the well wishes. All's going to be fine... hugs
Oh NO! I thought you'd been a bit quiet of late!!! So sorry that you are suffering and I do hope you'll get better VERY soon. I love the image Ken took of you though with all those beautiful flowers in the foreground. Keep smiling my friend, as you are in the photograph. :-)
Take the opportunity to rest and boss Ken around :)
I hope you make a quick recovery and that you are back to your usual self very quickly. Hugs from the Pacific x
Oh louise! What a horrid sequence of events! I'm sure a full of life person like you must feel terribly restricted. Still you manage your lovely smile. Take care my friend.x
What's up Louise. Taking time out!! What a series of mishaps. My 365 prayer list has one more addition, and now it's longer than my home list!! Love your smile and praying you heal quickly and cleanly.
Man! I need to keep better track of you! This sounds exactly like one of my crazy accidents... So sorry, Louise. I know how painful fractures are and then the CNA really made things worse. Take care and enjoy the enforced slow down. Ken is just like Bob - a Saint! BTW, you still managed to look beautiful in a hospital bed. You are good!!!
@suelbiz47 With a couple hours to call my own before lights out, how nice to say thanks for stopping by! This whole accident was "a bad idea", but loved seeing you and others here to visit me! Sorry you've had any accident like this...xo
@ceilidh How blessed I am/*we*are to have a friend like you who cares this much for us! I wanted to let you know I'm on the mend...saw my own doctor today who is sending me home tomorrow with all the things I have here in the nursing home, including Physical Therapy. Such happy news! Thanks dear friend. Wishing Sioban all the love I've received, and love & support to you, too ♥
@Cherrill Oh thanks darlin'! Restricted? You bet! However, I need to make some new priorities for awhile, and I'm pretty happy sitting propped in bed, music in my earplugs and writing thanks to you and the others! xox
@anjoso Funny how we pull one another along & in turn, we're helped when our turn arrives! Thanks for your sweet note. My best friends call Ken, "Saint Ken", so know I never boss, but only ask... He's a gem, and I don't mind telling the world! Hugs to you and yours
@jamibann Glad I wasn't with you on he edge of the Grand Canyon! I think yours was the last photo I responded to when I was in Mexico with little-to-no wifi. I've got more lovely photos...may fill in some blanks someday! Guess you're doing the same, but you kept your lovely legs intact! Thanks for your note, Issi!
@kph129@fntngrma Thanks so much for your sweet comments! Each day gets better...I'm getting a bed set up at home tomorrow with PT from home, too for awhile! Funny the things we come to appreciate at times like this! Hugs...
@tjchapa@danette@fayefaye@babylately@aponi What endearing community spirit people here show when one of our own is down! Thank you all for sending me mail to read and for brightening the afternoons I set this up and shared notes with Ken. You're the best!
@peggysirk Well, you've got me laughing! As I scrolled up to answer your note, I could see *myself* upside down as in your profile photo! You're likely doing a more artistic yoga than I did! I had a check in with my own GP today & got a lot of good input. He suggested I bail out of here ASAP, and so I'm set up go home tomorrow. Ken's such a help mate & daughter Ashley is arriving with the boys, the ages of your two grands. They're going to LOVE the "new bed" with the back that goes up and down! All's going to b just fine! Thanks for stoppin' in darlin'! xo
@voiceprintz Haha...My motto: Try Never to be Boring! My biggest problem is that I don't do pratfalls as well as Chevy Chase! I'm putting the best spin on this that I can...which tonight means that all the old folks have been tucked in and I can sit up with music playing in my earbuds and I can send some notes to my besties :) This could actually be "the free time" I've been wishing for...just didn't expect it to come packaged like this! Downside may be that we miss Chicago & head directly to NS in late June :( Stay tuned...we *will* eventually get together! xo to you, The Boy and The Dog ♥
@nanderson@radiogirl@kidatheart@kerristephens Thank you all SO much! I'll be better soon, and more so for returning home tomorrow. Both "interesting" and "sad", I could write heaps about this experience and the many people I've encountered! So much to learn in unexpected ways! Thanks for coming by to say hi! It was really appreciated!
@pyrrhula Thank you thank you, my friend... If I couldn't smile, I wouldn't be able to post a photo! Because I can still smile in spite of everything, I want to let you know I am okay! Ken is a wonderful helping-hand, and I am going home tomorrow to finish getting well. Maybe I can't take so many pictures, so I can work with the ones I already have...and I have a lot!!! YOU know! I'll write you when I'm more settled and can let you know how I'm progressing. All is ok. hugs
@pamknowler Pam, thank yo... You already know I'm going to be OK and that Ken is taking good care of me! Thank you for your kind words...I'll get back to all of you a bit at a time but wanted to thank everyone for all the thoughtful notes. I'm so happy to be going home tomorrow...with luck I'll get a photo or two...a bit closer to home! ♥
@joysfocus Thank you darlin' for the sweet notes Ken has been sharing with me! When I'm better I'll share more about everything ...it shouldn't have happened. Since you're in the profession, you'll be interested in hearing about "the grapevine"! Hugs to you dear friend...xo
I'm just catching up after having been away at daughter's wedding so am just now reading about your mishap. What a series of unfortunate mishaps. You will be back home by now but enjoy the rest, hope it is not too uncomfortable/painful. Hope you are up and about soon. Take care
Ow no! That is quite an accident. And can't believe what happened in the hospital while the nurse was just standing there :(. Hope your going to be ok soon!!
@Weezilou A great and many thanks for this nice lines and the hugs . Also thanks to be informed how you condition is as I was worried very much. Say Ken he can have a beer from me. Hope you healing/cure make a quick and good progress and you soon be at home again.
A third tanks for the great comment on my pic. Even If we both want it on the wall there is no place on it and I prefer Ina her paintings and the art we`ve bought .
@kelly2@heidi@sailingmusic@nicoleterheide@pyrrhula@snowy For all the kind words and the time you took to visit, a big Thank-You Hug. My apologies for the group mail, but I'm not on line much...I'm finally back home 48 hrs now. Friends come to visit, and I find I get very tired early in the evening. Know I'll mend and be back from time to time with a photo. Thanks for standing by me; you're an awesome group of friends! ♥
Well Louise, you sound like you do the kind of things I do!!! I hurt for you on each one of your falls!!! I can only imagine the pain you had and I do hope they gave you some GREAT drugs for the pain!! I've always thought the "getting over it" hurt more than the actual stunt!! LOL I'm so glad you are home and I was wondering why I hadn't heard from you in a while! I"m glad I finally looked you up!!! Now I'm going to be very motherly and tell you to do whatever the doctor told you to do, make sure you do your physical therapy and make Ken wait on you hand and foot or should I say ankle? LOL Get yourself a little bell and ring a ling it whenever you need something!! LOL I truly am sorry you had such a hard time on Mother's Day and I hope you can make it up when you get better!! Until then I will be sending you many healing thoughts and lots of hugs!! But not too tight of a hug!! Ken did an absolute jam up (no pun intended) job of taking this photo and I must say, you look awfully good in it!! FAV!!!
Oh no Louise. I have been away for a while but was shocked to see this beautiful picture of you laid up and in the hospital. Hope you are feeling better and certainly now that you are home with the best of care, recovery will be quickly hopefully. Hope this will not keep you from Nova Scotia this summer. Always enjoy seeing your photos from eastern Canada. I hope your recovery is quick Louise and Bith you and Ken will be back in Canada soon. Hugs to both of you.
Oh my! Poor Louise :( You sure managed to do a number on yourself! And to add insult / injury to misery with the second fall! Sure glad you have Ken to look after you. And yes, he did a fantastic job on the photograph. Take care and hope to see you soon, and a quick recovery.
Louise! I am so sorry! What a shocker to see you in a hospital bed! But look at you, smiling despite the set-back (and pain). Bless Ken's heart for filling as photographer. Hoping you're well on your way to healing up. (That looks like a bruise on the inside of your arm.)
Oh Louise I am so sorry. Forgive me for not stopping by sooner, but somehow I didn't catch your post in my feed. I noticed I hadn't seen you for awhile but figured you were busy. This is not the kind of busy I had in mind! I hope the professionals where you are now are attentive, caring and experienced at getting you back on your feet. I will be checking back to see how you are doing. And no, I don't expect any response. Best to you.
Oh my gosh -- I totally had missed all of this. Egad -- not just the injuries but how you got the subsequent ones. I'm so sorry to read about this and glad to see that despite it all, you have a smile on your face (and some beautiful flowers). All the best to you for a speedy recovery!
My dear Louse, I have not been looking on this site for a couple of weeks and there you go and make news! I am so sorry to hear about your accident"s" and wishing you a very speedy recovery. You are such a strong example of a positive attitude will always make the healing quicker. Sending good thoughts and know you will be kicking up your heels soon, just not too high and look at the ground as your kicking!
Dearest Louise, somehow our best laid plans seem to go haywire sometimes, but this an extreme! And, I know you wanted some downtime to catch up on all your correspondence, your photo editing, your reading, and whatever else that required you not moving constantly, but you should really be careful what you wish for because it sometimes comes true in the most unexpected ways! On a positive note, Ken's photography skills are improving by leaps and bounds as evidenced by this wonderfully framed photo of you by these beautiful flowers. Thinking of you A LOT, and really wishing you a quick recovery.
@panthora I didn't realize you'd only just come across this! Thank YOU for joining ME in wishing me a speedy recovery! No one wants me out of here faster that I do! Well, Ken perhaps. He's good as gold, but I don't want to wear out my welcome, having to act like some sort of Queen Bee! dear o dear!
@seattle Oh Constance, than k you so much for coming by! Needless to say, I've not been making the rounds on photos as much as I'd like, but I'm not down for the count! I only see this as "Present Imperfect" and a bit of a setback. Good thing that a NS summer is coming into view and I'm determined to be ready, even if I must concede a delay in departure date. With your kind acknowledgment of my "positive attitude", I wouldn't dream of letting you down! Eyes to the ground, I'm moving forward! ♥
Hi Louise, I just called by to say I hope you are recovering super-fast - so sorry you had this fall - Mum told me when we were chatting on the phone yesterday. Sending all our healing thoughts your way xxx
@helenmoss Oh Helen, what a delightful surprise to have you drop by! I'm trying to wrap my head around the fact that I was even a brief topic of conversation half-way around the world! Thank your mom for sending you by and, thus, alerting me that you seem to be posting photos again! I haven't had much time on my photo feed, or I would have noticed sooner. Lovely to see you again :)
Well crap!!!!!!! You certainly don't do things by halves do you? You poor thing. How is your recovering going??
Ken did an awesome job with this photo. Very cool POV :)
I am very far behind, Louise. I found your downward facing dog photo and made it here. Hope you are feeling ok. I know you are endeavoring to persevere and doing so with a smile and cheerful heart. Heal quickly and stay safe!
