"...Just watch the smoke rings rise through the air..." by Weezilou

"...Just watch the smoke rings rise through the air..."

Lots of time on my hands to at last do something with some of my older photos (this of 15 Feb). This found me hearing the words to "Dream".
(Frank...not the Everly Brothers, in this case...)

What do you dream about?
Vacation! This is wonderful. Fav!

Nicely done.

Oh I like this, and as I think about your words I find myself pondering the thought of being able to give up the life of working. I have forever thought that we would work till we are 70, but now the thought of calling it quits at 65 or 66, much more pleasing to the mind.

I'll have to look up the song, but the photograph and processing are really nice. 😀

@lsanderson55 I'm with you! How about a happy Connie Francis song! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMo3hHmbMT4&list=RDLMo3hHmbMT4 Thanks for that fave! ♥

@digitalrn @chard Though a sobering thought, when we saw the husbands of friends of ours depart from the circle, we realized that the whole reason for working so hard was to have time left to enjoy the fruits of our labors. It's been 8 years on Ken's birthday since he retired, and he's never looked back with so much as a moment of regret. I'm wishing you both the same. (Find a way to put that "dream" into action... ♥

Pretty smoke patterns :)
June 10th, 2015
This is a fantastic composition. I love the smoke and the music score. I retired 15 years ago and am permanently busy and loving it. We see more of our friends and travel more but not in the high season. My dream has always been to travel
June 10th, 2015
@kelly2 "Permanently busy" is the perfect description of retirement (well, ours as well, anyway!) More time for friends and traveling would be our picks, too! So happy to have shared experiences!

@alia_801 @photographycrazy @shepherdmanswife Thank you all for stopping by! I've had a relaxing time making collages like this and I think they're quite therapeutic :)

@pyrrhula ahhhh, the Platters, "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes"...another good one! Funny thing about dreams... I remember many of them, and they make me feel that I'm capable of creativity (because they're sometimes so odd!) I'm so fascinated what the mind is capable of "dreaming" up! I'm sorry you're unhappy with yours. Do you ever wonder what the dreams mean?
June 11th, 2015
i have so many dreams, and they have changed over the years. now all i want is to get on a car and drive wherever the roads would take me, stop and take a photo where the opportunity calls. so many wonderful people to meet and connect with. but mostly i'd like to have the opportunity to sit down and write a book until it's all done and ready for other eyes to read. my head is just brimming with dreams and ideas. sometimes i wish all these opportunities now presented itself when i was much younger when i had different aspirations and ideals. but no regrets here, i have loved the people i wanted to love, and seen the places that matter to me.

'smoke gets in your eyes' started to play in my head eer since i saw this post, which is so poignant and mystical, and i delayed my comment until i could think of something coherent. not happening so i just babbled as usual. let me now get my karaoke and sing that song just so i could exorcise it. :-P
June 11th, 2015
by the way, i am serious about coming to nova scotia. this year.
June 11th, 2015
@summerfield Part II first... I never doubted you for a moment, to which I reply (again) "so are we!"
June 11th, 2015
@summerfield exorcise a song? Unlikely to happen until replaced by another! I go to youtube to listen to the song of the moment...maybe play it again and again or by different artists...and then I spot another I like, listen to a few and the spell is broken... for a while...

It's my vantage point that sees working people who have the greatest desire to finally be retired and to start following their long-awaited dreams. Surely some do accomplish their aspirations...perhaps you'll find your fixed focus and write your book! While a full-time mom, I set the career aside and continued to take art related classes and attend retreats for years. I found my community there and loved that time. Now my focus is to share my days, adventures and travels with Ken and we're having a wonderful time. I don't think I have any big, unfinished projects. Somehow my hours fly by daily, but like you (in what you mentioned) I've had no regrets. Life's been "an interesting experience"...
June 11th, 2015
@summerfield ...reread the note I read you and now I have Frank Sinatra singing "My Way" inside my head! Don't curse me if t gets stuck in your head, too!
June 11th, 2015
@Weezilou - funny i was singing "my way" in the car just now! hahahaha!
June 11th, 2015
OK, currently my biggest dream is to see the end of our house renovation, and finally either enjoy it, or rent it out and travel for a couple of years!! Yes, we all have dreams, and they do change all the time as we pursue new interests, and our lives take twists and turns. So much accomplished, and yet so much more to do.
June 11th, 2015
Lots of time on your hands.. I bet. How's the recovery from the fall going?
June 12th, 2015
@ludgate Thanks for asking, Megan! As I write this, I'm now in a regular chair in my old location, so it's funny the things one heralds after an accident! I'm taking things slowly & have a lot of loving help, so I'm definitely on the mend and am going to be fine ♥
June 12th, 2015
@Weezilou Good to hear! Keep taking it slow and healing will happen quicker. ;)
June 13th, 2015
@panthora Somehow I missed your note until just now! If anyone thinks for a moment that their life is *not* going to make twists and turns, they'd better brace themselves for the surprise that's soon to follow! Of course GOOD things happen when we least expect them as well! I'll take a few of those, please & thank you! (And save some for my friend, Osia!) God willing, life will probably be a never-ending litany of projects...because we have more ideas than time allows for them all! Looking forward to some long phone chats this summer! ♥
