My photographic outings have been nil these last two days, but for to take some "stock photos" to use in the video I made in support of our friend's effort to bring more people to this No-Frills Musical Venue. If more people show up, perhaps he can spring for lighting for the performers out on the floor.
This is my "second-attempt" 5 min video if you'd care to watch. I'm still contemplating a re-do to replace one song that, IMHO, didn't translate well. Let me know what you think (besides the lighting, as I couldn't do a thing about that!)
@digitalrn You zeroed in on a delightful entertainer! This man is a retired pediatrician, and John said he'd been trying to bring Laurie in for some time! He opened with Duke Ellington numbers and played for at least a half hour, closing with Fats Waller and finally, Piano Man. I recorded it all. When I get it posted, I'll send it to you...just terrific!
Loved the video Louise, would love to be there. I especially liked the jazz pianist as I'm a big jazz fan. I didn't know Lunenberg was a World Heritage Site, amazing.
@ceilidh Thanks for having a look, Margaret! I'll let John know that Laurie has a "world-wide" fan club! Send me an email address to muensterma@gmail.com and when I get his set up on youtube, I'll send it to you, Rick, and any others who would like to have it. Best of all, the lighting on him wasn't bad! (And more and more you're coming to understand why your father wanted to come to the Maritimes!)
Thank you for sending the video . Great shot of the advertising but so sorry , I can`t come and enjoy it . Need a blanket to dry my tears for it . (Little kidding)
@pyrrhula I'm putting together a 30 minute video of just the piano music by Dr Laurie McNeill. Everyone who writes about the video says they like his music best!
A variety of talent on the video but yes the jazz pianist was good.I had a look at some of the other videos of Luneburg And now it's on my mental map. It is just what I imagine Nova Scotia to be like. Sounds a wonderful community.oh and I do like your shot, especially the wrathetbosrding
@kelly2 I love that you checked out other Lunenburg videos! It's such a charming town! You and everyone else has made the pianist The Peoples' Choice! Tomorrow I hope to post a video of just his music and I can notify you, your sister and Rick when I have it done! And, least I forget to mention it, it's always fun to see how we sometimes diverge from a common language! "wrathetbosrding" - "Sandwich Board"? I can't even pronounce it your way!!! We don't have a sound for the "srd" in a word!
and John, the dress code requires you wear anything that goes suitably well with card tables covered with plastic table cloths!
"No frills" extends to manner of dress as well! (I'll be back there again in a few short hours for the evening, and tonight we have about 6 friends joining us! The publicity is working!)
Love that sign and it should bring people in. A $5 cover charge is pretty cheap and should bring a lot of people in. They sing and play really well!! I hope it does really well!!! Let us know!! FAV!
@allie912 That's the easiest way, of course ...(!!) but you live closer to here than Ken and I do the other half of the year! I see Karen just started following again, and she always spoke of wanting to come up... Perhaps you two should put your heads together... You KNOW you'd be welcomed with open arms! (Vikki Summerfield & Bill Fenske, both whom I've never met, are coming up in late September!)
@panthora I"ve got about 6 hours more of an eclectic assortment...all good! Will I ever have time to sort through it, edit and post...who knows! Tonight was amazing...(more) really good stuff! AND, John said that for the first time, they made money tonight! Perhaps it was the pralines! (They did go fast!)
FYI, here is the link to only Dr McNeill's jazz piano https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ELYkmRtvrnU
