Meet Elizabeth Brown, whose ability to carve is quite exceptional! Best of all, she told me she can't believe she can "go to work" every day, doing something she loves this much! She's at the Lunenburg Farmer's Markets each week, and since taking these photos, now two weeks ago, I noticed that her stock had dwindled considerably! The carved Santa heads were $30, and for her effort & talent, worth every penny I think. I found her work irresistible and that vintage Santa she's holding is going to California with me for Christmas. She does mail order, and, Ken & I would happily recommend her! That smile is genuine, friendly and freely given to all who stop to talk to her about her carving. I told her I'd likely post a collage, so here, at last, it is. She now knows that I'm not "quick" but I'm also not insincere!
@quietpurplehaze It was fun on that day to watch the children gravitate to her! At one time, she was surrounded. Who knows, in that moment, which child was moved to consider this for him or herself one day!
You picked a lovely Santa to take home, and it will bring every memory of Lunenberg back to California with you! What a lovely lady, and so, so talented!! Great collage!
@jamibann I'D actually asked about posting these. (It does, of course increase the cost!) She said she wraps them in bubble wrap and they fit into a mailing envelope, so the cost is $15. I forgot to mention in the caption that she's made the Santa faces to have the look of a weathered fisherman...a look that is perfect for a Santa from this region!
