We took the grandkids to the zoo and had a lovely walk around a lake, but back in the car, all else fell by the wayside when I spotted this whimsical moment! I truly marveled at the complexity of this little markings, though if I were approached by more than one, I'd no longer find them interesting!
We're in Chicago and having a wonderful time. The weather is even better (cooler) than we left behind in California! It's a rare occasion when you might dis California weather and rave about Chicago weather!
The natural text above the little creature is fantastic -- makes for such a good story.
What a joy today was!! I hope the trip back north was an easy one.
@taffy Thanks so much, Taffy! We LOVED our day today! As we sat out in the yard until dark having a picnic dinner with the kids, I still haven't sorted through my photos! I know I'm going to be so happy with the lot, and look forward to seeing what you post as well. Talk to Jim, Junko and Bill...Lunenburg awaits you! No excuses...I know you're all travelers! @bill_fe Can't wait to meet up with Bill & Vikki within the week! @summerfield, too!
Fantastic detail and excellent placement of the little fellow - serendipitous! And no, I would not want more than one of those heading my way - especially flying at my head.... ;)
Outstanding macro of this hopper and love the lines on him!! I can't stand anything that clings to me, so I stay away from hoppers and they like to cling and spit their tabaco on you!!! How ironic is it that he's on the mirror with his warning sign? Love it!!! FAV!
Wonderful placement of this grasshopper, and incredible detail....and, not only he appears bigger, but he also has a double in the reflection!! What a great find!
@panthora haha...he was hard to miss as I got into the front seat! The fun part was hoping he wouldn't "fly off" as we made our way back home! Everyone was really cheering him on! Heading up Lake Shore Drive, we were sure he'd be a goner, but he did make it home...where he's probably eating the vegetable garden as we speak!
@Weezilou I thought you were going to sleep... ;-)))
There was one of these guys in my yard....I kept seeing him day after day sitting on one of my roses.....they really don't move far and fast! I could not decide if he was a good or a bad guy for the yard, and I could not bring myself to kill him, so I finally put him in a glass jar and dropped him off across the alley. I hope he found another yard to visit!
@pyrrhula Yea, Ferry! I didn't want to say anything as it was supposed to take 6 weeks...and it's probably been about that long! Too late I realized you probably can't read it, but know it was autographed by the two sea captains, and that's what I wanted you to have most! Please feel no rush to write. We won't really be settled back in Lunenburg until after the end of September! (Do I get tired? Yes, sometimes, but I do enjoy all the day's activities and the many photo opportunities!
