This little setting was the opener for a most transcending and remarkable weekend! The Kitchen Parties have closed their doors, and The Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance (LAMP) has opened their season. As last year, 10 opera students from 160 applicants were selected to come to Lunenburg to do a Master Class under the tutelage of renowned world expert in Rossini opera, Maestro Alberto Zedda. (I put that into one sentence so you can Google more information if you're at all interested!)
And so,this evening we invited four friends to come for dinner before the performance of La Scala di Seta. It's perhaps a shame that opera should be thought of as "highbrow" as I had not read the story line beforehand, and yet, I enjoyed the music and the God-given talent these young people were handed!
But I digress... It's such fun to live where the colours of autumn are plentiful, and we need only to step out the front door to gather table decorations! And do any of you recall when I was so excited to have found that bowl at a yard sale for just 50 cents? I still love it more than any bowl of polished silver! Imagine the stories it could tell as I wonder how many Thanksgivings it has overseen!
