How Many, How Many I Wonder...

Knit One ...
Purl One ...
Repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat ...
until it became a cover for a double bed... Not a plain one either... quite ornate and gorgeous... A testimony to the time someone spent hours upon hours knitting and doing nothing else all that while...

How long ago? I can't say... It's in beautiful condition... A fund-raising donation to a worthwhile music venue celebrating 30 years of bringing classical music to all of Nova Scotia. I thought my silent-auction bids would be overrun by others, and so I waited... Sure that someone else was waiting to bid at the last moment, and knowing my first bid was low, I upped my own bid...it was for a charity after all, and a worthy one...

No one else bid... I bought this for little more than the cost of the yarn. I do hope that somewhere this talented hand-knitter might know how very much we'll enjoy and appreciate this...and we'll keep it in the family...
Love it!!! You should tag for the six word story. Sixws-41

Like your shot and what an inspiring tale especially for me who cannot knit for toffee - or anything else! If I lose a stitch I'm lost for ever.......

Reminds me to my be loved Mother that ,as I remember, did always a knitting. She was really a prof in this. Within three day`s she knitted a sweater for me. Fav. A tribute to her.

@chard I had a house-broken rabbit that once ate a large corner of the one my grandmother knit... And yes, Dinah was immediately drawn to this, but only curled up on it. It's across from my computer...she was under close scrutiny!

@pyrrhula What a lovely, touching memory of your mother. She would have been so proud of you and so pleased to be remembered so dearly. Thank you for the fave...your mother would thank you, as well...

I've tried to lean to knit with no success. Always end up frustrated because I mess it up, then have to rip out stitches. Enjoy your knitted treasure.

It sounds like you found yourself quite a bargain. Recently Josie and I attended an auction where a lady was auctioning off all her hand made quilts. She had a total of 65 at the auction, a part of her collection. We managed to purchase one for ourselves, and then one for each of the kids. Josie was pleased.

What a beauty! Love your DOF on this, and the softness! No wonder Dinah was drawn to it! I am in the same camp with non knitters; somehow this creative endeavor did not resonate with me. My mom, on the other hand, has made me some beautiful sweaters. FAV!

@Weezilou Gladly, the last time I visit her ( she had Alzheimer's disease at last) she told me stories about my childhood , that she love me and always has faith in me, no matter I was doing things my way. God save/has her soul.
