We awoke to a thunder storm that lasted all of about 45 minutes yesterday. For the rest of the day we couldn't see the mountains for all the cloud cover...and we suspected we were in for a treat. This is it...
The best of a winter's day in Southern California, strawberries being sold at a corner stand just to my left, and a gorgeous view. Were we at the beach, the surfers would have been out there as well.
The freeways are always crowded and it's not easy to get out to all the places we'd like to do photography. But on a day like this, not a half mile from our home, there's beauty enough for the taking!
@kevin365 Thanks, darlin! Should I have added a banner to this post-card photo that said, "Wish You Were Here"?! Feeling great again, thanks! Sending sunshine!
When my sister-in-law lived in Huntington Beach, we could also walk to,the strawberry fields. My b-in-l made the best strawberry shortcake with fresh whipped cream and old-fashioned biscuits and those lovely luscious berries. Mm mm, I can still taste them!
@allie912 OK...that did it! Going back for fresh berries tomorrow, and I biscuit shortcake will be a must! The strawberry fields are diminishing... We lost another nearby one to a very large building while we were away last summer : (
Mmmm, mmmm, I can smell those beauties from here. Any chance of mailing some this way?? Isn't it interesting that when you're stuck there's usually an opportunity to be found in the neighbourhood.
What a wonderful place to be -- I agree that you live in quite a stunning part of the country, despite its many inconveniences (and of course, earthquakes!)
This is why we like southern CA. This is magnificent. Love the bright little dots of red strawberries. Absolutely gorgeous photo. Hey, Flower Fields are open! And Safari Park's 2 week Butterfly Exhibit opens this Thursday.
Wow this is so beautiful! We don't get strawberries around here as the weather isn't conducive. Great shot of the fields and mountains in the distance!
Great place. I love the way the berries have been planted. Our farm does them just a little differently. We have the imported variety with large berries which is hardier and a local one with sweeter smaller ones.
beautiful scene and snow capped mountains as well. Glad you are back to your old self again. We have a strawberry farm not too far from us too and you can eat while you pick!
Quiet a different way to grow strawberries as we do. We grow them on a kind of gutters +/- 7 feet high so the snails can`t eat them and easier to harvest and they stay clean. No plastic sheets needed.. Great shot of the field
