A Night at the Symphony by Weezilou

A Night at the Symphony

Never ones to miss an exceptional music venue, we jumped at the chance to go to the symphony and hear them play the score to the movie -Silverado- as the movie aired on the screen above them. (OK, it was an expensive movie, but no iMax sounded as good ... and what a setting!) It met every expectation! As the audience gave them a standing ovation, I was amazed at the many people who headed for the exit. Personally I always stay until the end and enjoy reading credits. And for that, the reward was the introduction of Bruce Broughton who wrote the score for the movie and received an Academy Award nomination in 1986 for Best Original Score. He's from Southern California and had flown in to be present at this occasion; pretty special, I thought! And though it happened at the end of another busy and wonderful day, it was truly a highlight!
wow that must have been amazing. I sometimes shut my eyes in a movie and try to imagine the orchestra playing the score. Certainly paid off staying till the end. I always do too

This certainly was one of the highlights of the week for me Louise! What a wonderful evening and the perfect way to finish my week in Chicago! I was so grateful to you and Ken for walking me all the way back to my hotel! You really are the most wonderful generous couple! I am so pleased we shared this fabulous evening and have it as a joint memory! Fav!

@cruiser Funny, Chris that I kept reminding myself to take my eyes off the screen and watch the orchestra! But true, I do as you do when in the movie. (And when a part is difficult to watch, I trying to imagine all the people standing around with the boom and the camera as they film the scene!

I guess they must have turned off the sound track. What about the speaking parts?

@francoise It seemed they were able to have the soundtrack removed. All the speaking parts and story were there, so it was a most enjoyable movie...and the music...fabulous!
