Five days after we landed in Lunenburg, we entertained our first guests! Vera has been a friend almost as long as we've been in California (40+ years) and she and Jerry came through Halifax on a cruise. We brought them down to Lunenburg for a quick look around, and, when short on time, the carriage ride is a good way to get an overview and local history. As we made plans to go to the waterfront, along came Rebecca and Legend, so I asked if we might hop on at our back door! (They're typically never without customers, but the drivers were taking the horses around to get them back into routine.) For Ken and me, to ride along, and to board "at the door" was novelty enough!
We had a marvelous, albeit brief, visit before heading to Peggy's Cove and back to their ship where they set sail that night for the Azores. I've since heard that they had a spectacular time!
Ships that pass in the night literally!! How lovely it was for you to meet up with your friends even though it was for such a brief time!! love that the horse and carriage picked you up from home!! Star treatment!!
What fun this looks like. You are definitely the "place" to visit when friends are in the area.......... We know how hospitable you are.... and no wonder your friends flock to Lunenburg when you are there.
@Weezilou I know nothing about Lunenburg apart from seeing your photos Louise. I am going to do some research and find out exactly where you are. I wonder will I get there? I feel excited at the thought!!
@Weezilou By the way my godson has set the date for his wedding next year - 29th April. It looks like a California trip might be on the cards!! He said it will take place on a small ranch and the wedding will be outside - lots of flowers - he sounded very excited. Not sure exactly where it is yet.
How wonderful that you were able to show your friends around Lunenburg! Reading that the horse and carriage picked you up at your back door certainly made me smile! Sounds like a fun time! :-)
