Time Travel Reenacted by Weezilou

Time Travel Reenacted

In brief, meet Ron H, a reenactor in the uniform of the King's Orange Rangers, 84th Highlanders. Not sure if I got that correct, but he'll be writing me a bio as I'm now working on a collaborative book with the Lunenburg Art Gallery photographers to make a publication about the people of Lunenburg County and why they choose to live here. I've been interviewing 8th-generation individuals and relative newcomers, all with fascinating stories to tell. This was the start of Pirate Days, and the costumes were fabulous!

But wait! There's More! (Lunenburg is a multiple-choice town!)

8:30 AM we're out for the festivities of launching a 60' schooner built in Lunenburg. Not just any boat, this is going to be an ambassador to the world to monitor and teach about the dangers of plastic pollution (etc) in the oceans. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wiKS0KiKMgQ
There were interesting speeches and by high tide, the ship, Mahayana, was christened and set sail.

Meanwhile, we'd missed The Golden Parade, billed as "the shortest, cutest parade in Lunenburg". It simply didn't fit into the schedule!

Many Pirates and Reenactors came to the dock where the boat was launched, so I took several hundred photos and secured two photos and interviews. (In the book, I would likely leave this in colour.)

Rather than go to the waterfront for all the festivities, we came back home as we were expecting out-of-town visitors for the afternoon.

...and in the evening, we went to the Kitchen Party...

As long as I'm here, I struggle to visit all the wonderful planned activities and venues and to then use my photos to best advantage. Sunday was also filled as well (until 4 AM when I fell into bed!), rounding out the weekend!

No one will ever accuse me of wasting time!
Great portrait capture and processing!

You intend to launch another big schooner - "The Bluedream'? To complement the "Bluenose II"? You are a busy lady! Lovely to see all the familiar buildings in the video!

To the flax - linen processing. the technics is still the same , only not be done by humans but in factories and with chemicals. In the old days it was splitted on a wooden shelf with iron pins .

@pyrrhula You warned me not to get too busy! Last weekend I was one of two photographers for all of the Lunenburg Folk Harbour Festival. I had no idea photography was such hard work! 10 Am-12 midnight there was something happening that I was photographing! Ken and I did have a great time, but now I have to go through every photo and get the good ones to the group for the website. It taught me a great deal about my camera choices! Thanks for the kind words... I'm just busy for the moment...

@dailypix See my note above to Ferry... @kevin365 you, too, m'friend!
This was the schedule http://www.folkharbour.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/2016FHFestivalGuide-WEB.pdf It was a challenge to get to every performer and venue, but it was harder still to have to leave and go to the next one! We had an amazing time, and it was fabulous to be a part of it all!
