For a number of years, we've had a nesting pair of hummers, and I've had a few sightings this spring as they come and go at the feeder. Today was "just like old times"! I went out to photograph the lovely white blooms on the Flowering Pear Trees, and there she was, full of curiosity and keeping an eve on me! (I've been asked how I get my still photos, but she'll alight, sit, rise & fly and alight again in almost the same spot.
My camera setting was already zoomed, but open to capture the white flowers against the dark tree. When I turned toward her, I got this gorgeous clean space, and had nearly no levels to correct.
She provided a lovely start to the day! The flowers can wait!
An aside: To those of you new to my site, I was in a wheelchair in May, 2 years ago. As I sat at the open back door, she'd fly right up to my face, and even came in to admire my vase of flowers! She and I are friends!
How lovely Louise you have another bird on my bucket list in your garden! I love hummingbirds and you have captured this one beautifully! What luck you had those settings on the camera! Sometimes it's just meant to be! So pleased your friend came to call! Fav!
I love this amazing shot! The negative space is absolutely perfect. This looks like an Audubon print. You dwell in such a peaceable kingdom, Louise. I believe you are a true all-creature 'whisperer'.
holy camoley, this is your picture. i was in someone's album commenting like there was no tomorrow and all the while i thought i was in yours. there were ducks and all such! aces on me, eh!
this would make for a relly great embossed greeting card. think about it!
@summerfield I just ordered a box of a dozen 5x7 cards for my friend/neighbour, Jan up in Lunenburg for her late Feb birthday, and put in a couple of these. She likes flowers best, but maybe she'll be happy with this, too. Thanks for the verbal hugs!
