Ken's always been my sous chef when he isn't actually preparing dinner or baking a delicious dessert, but Mike has studied culinary arts, so he came in to help Ken prepare a macadamia nut crusted salmon cooked on the grill.
I took this through the window (as if you couldn't tell!) ... I didn't have to go near the kitchen :-)
@summerfield We've probably fixed you that grilled salmon...everyone loves it, and yes, it was delicious! Thanks for the early-morning comment!
@louannwarren I was hoping Mike would prepare something for us, so it was nice that he went in to assist Ken. And this morning he made us a lovely breakfast!
@jyokota Since retirement, Ken's become very adept in the kitchen! And Mike, in retirement, decided to get a degree in the kitchen. His baking looks wonderful!
@louannwarren All I can think is that it's a popular thing to see the men take over the kitchen duties ; )
@cruiser@jamibann Thank you. Here's the best part, Issi... from the time the girls were little (when I did most of the cooking), he would always clean up at the end of the meal. The girls are in their 40s now and he still does it! Makes for a strong marriage!
@cjphoto Ken lacks a toque, but I know Mike has one, and the jacket with his name on it as well! He's "official" and I've seen for myself that Fred is, too!
Macadamia nut crusted salmon sounds incredibly delicious! My husband is the chef here! This actually sounds like something he would love to prepare. Excellent shot of the two guys! :-)
@gaylewood I got the recipe off the Mona Loa web site, and would be happy to write it down to share with you and the others who might be interested! We always have it at least once with house guests and plate it with rice and asparagus. You'd relate to my dessert... I made meringue nests and topped them with ice cream, raspberries and Chambord, but it could easily have been mini Pavlovas!
@Weezilou Oh, my goodness! That dessert sounds scrumptious! I've been seriously trying to stick to my daily Weight Watcher points but I'd easily forget about silly points if I was offered a serving of your dessert. :-)
@gaylewood I've been a WW for umpteen years...not too diligently of late, but you never forget to think about it! Ron, who was with us at Safari Park, is a diabetic, and I make him small meringues because I've figured them at no more than 10 cal each...a nice sweet treat without a lot of danger! Pair some with a bowl of raspberries or any fruit!
@Weezilou I've been a WW for five years now...lost 50 pounds and have managed to stay right around +5 of my goal weight . . . as you say, you never forget to think about it. My husband is diabetic so can totally identify with dessert modifications. :-)

@homeschoolmom @bill_fe Would that you *could* come right over! We were eating well!
@pamknowler No need to ask 8me* twie... I was more than happy to cheer them on!
@gardenfolk @taffy Thank you both! I'm more than happy to accommodate men who like to cook!
@joansmor @777margo It was a lovely meal that, after a day by the ocean, we ate by the fireplace! Thank you both for stopping by with comments!
@cjphoto I would have LOVED for Fred to have been photographed in the mix! Let him know I thought of him!
@ltodd @golftragic @lynnz Thank you ladies! Doesn't happen every day, but a pleasure when it does :-)
