On a day like this, it was the best I could offer from my back deck!
This is a good place to share that if you desire a hardy, flowering plant for your garden, go with geraniums! When we moved to our house here, someone had left a geranium plant in the basement window. It was several years later that we wanted to reuse the pot it was in, and Ken spotted a bit of green on the plant! He pruned it and set it out, and it took off again!
Now, at the end of our stay, we put the geraniums in the basement for the winter, and if someone's around, they put snow on the plants. A bit of pruning and they're good to go each summer!
"Come again another day" isn't only referring to rain!
I say that about my geraniums every summer! Nothing gives as much bang for the buck as a geranium. They never stop blooming, producing flowers right up until snowfall. The buds as as photogenic as as the blossoms.
@allie912 Thanks for the vote of confidence! Some days are like that! Must say thanks again for introducing us to Bob & Vickie! They're fabulous! At the close of our last get together we laughed that, "too bad we have 'nothing' to talk about..."! It was a hit!
A beautiful image Louise! I know you've been busy with family. Still getting over this cold. It's better than it was when I got home. Lost my voice for 2 days. No energy yet. ugh. Been working on photos and listening to Celtic music. Puts me right back in Lunenburg. I love everything about that place. Already received my work of art from Jacqueline. Hope you are having more good times with the family.
In our country you wouldn`t. If you getting old and need a nursery home, the saying is: Hij/zij gaat achter de Geraniums zitten { (S)He is sitting back behind a glasswindow with geraniums }. Never the less I like them. They are that cheap in our country that nearly nobody keep them alive in winter. We buy fresh ones in spring.
Love yours for the pretty colours. Great shot and framing.
@pyrrhula You are correct about that Ferry! Inexpensive (cheap) but small! If we want big plants for our short summers, we have only discovered that they are no trouble to keep alive! Funny, too, the expression about being old and living with the geraniums! I used to joke that I am an old woman with na cat and a canary (that's a bit of a joke about old ladies...) I outlived the canary, but I'm still surrounded by cats! And geraniums!
@Weezilou We buy them because they are growed in glasshouses and the blooming is very early in spring.
Thanks for the replay and compliments. By the way; you sure are not old yet. Keep in tuch until you 95 years, than we talk about it again.
Geraniums are pretty indestructible. One of the gardens in our street has them totally covering their front fence and they are just starting to come into bud. Beautiful with the raindrops
