Dipping back into my unposted archive pictures as my summer photos would not be complete without filling in with visits from friends and family! I have so many delightful memories from this day as we took Joy @joysfocus sightseeing in Blue Rocks and stopped for this iconic photo I have with many friends here (you'll know who you are!) In the evening we stopped for drinks out on the deck of an inn and listened to music before taking in a play about Lunenburg's early days held at The Fisheries Museum.
As the area around Lunenburg is often used for filming movies and television shows, my title is not invalid! And that very small fishing shack in the background, left, is so iconic to the area, it's on the National Registry of Historic Buildings!
If you've read this far, perhaps you'd like to visit Joy's site and wish her much happiness as she's getting married this Saturday, Nov 11!
A wonderful capture of you both posing on the set! I have shots of these fishermen’s huts - it really is a photographers dream location! Just popping over to wish Joy every happiness! Romance is not dead! Lol! Fav for you two beauties!
Love your processing on this one, Louise! So interesting that you mentioned the area around Lunenburg (now I always pronounce it properly in my mind when I type it) being used for filming movies and television shows because we've recently watched several episodes of an American-Canadian supernatural drama series filmed on the South Shore of Nova Scotia titled, "Haven". The shoreline of Lunenburg can be seen in various episodes. I think about you every time we watch an episode. :-)
Thank you so much for your wonderful comments and favs on some of my recent photos. Unfortunately, I haven't been keeping up with my daily photos for one reason or another...I'm going to keep trying to stay as regular as possible and not stress out about it. Wonderful chatting with you, Louise! :-)
@gaylewood What a delight to get your message! Like you, my posting is sporadic only in that we are so busy here, I can't fit everything into the 24-hr slot and get sleep, too! How fun that you're watching "Haven"! They filmed it here for about 6 seasons! (Lunenburg, where you see the colored buildings, and 20 min north of here in Chester where the buildings are all white.) I had some lovely encounters with some of the cast members, and they were happy for me to take photos and even asked me to send them! Many times in past summers I posted pictures of those events. Honestly, I most enjoyed watching from behind the scenes as to how the staging and photography was done, and chatting with Lucas' stand in! I was even given some of the scripts on the days they were working...which makes me sound like the ultimate groupie, but they knew I was taking "photo-journal" photos for my site (365)...all were very nice and took time to visit between scenes. Once again, so glad you're enjoying it!
@Weezilou Good morning, Louise! I would have loved watching the filming of "Haven" from behind the scenes. How exciting! We ended up watching all the seasons straight through and Thursday evening we watched the final show. I loved the ending because I'm a sucker for happy endings and 'happily ever after'. I absolutely LOVE Lunenburg and the surrounding area from all the beautiful scenes in the shows! I will MOST DEFINITELY visit there in the future! Hope you have a fabulous weekend! :-)
